mouse calls Cooper S engine bay home

First he had a go at the water supply pipe for the left hand xenon headlight washer, resulting in this:

Then he decided to spit the bits of chewed pipe into the engine bay:

Then he decided to start gnawing on some of the electrical leads. Thankfully he only managed to chew through the outside insulation wrap.

Wow! Have you named him?

Are you sure there isn't some MINI-born rodent living INSIDE trying to get OUT?

Yeah, suddenly it seems like a good investment.

All joking aside - you might want to put some mouse "food" aka poison, in the engine bay overnight for a week or so to make sure if the little darling has hitched a ride, he has something more appropriate to eat.

I had one living in the trunk (boot) of a big old American Buick Le Sabre. It was sitting idle for a while, before a trip to the wrecking yard. It was amazing what a nest the thing had made out of miscellaneous bits of the interior insulation.

Cheers,

Dave

I replaced all the hose for the headlight washers last night, including the undamaged hose so they'd have exactly the same internal diameter. Piece of cake. The Mini really is a joy to work on. All the pipes are fitted with quick release connectors, so you can have the whole assembly out in a few minutes.

Mate, if I were you I'd be buying a life jacket for yourself, and some floaties for the MINI. You poor guys in Canberra have had fire, now pestilence, what's next, flood(??)

WOW! That's one toothy rodent. Good luck exterminating that one. Thanks for the pics.

Haha. Actually, we've had solid rain here for the last 15 hours, so flood could well be next I washed the Mini last night after I repaired the chewed washer hoses, so of course it decided to rain solid today, despite being in drought conditions.

Yup. Mice and rats seem to go for the isulation. Had one attack the injecter harness on a vehicle I sometimes use for business. Time to put out bait or the problem will return.
