I have a manual 2007 mini cooper. When you start it cold, the engine idles fine but when it warms up a bit, it gets really rough and at times cuts out. The check engine light is on and comes up with codes P0014 and P0015. Does anyone know what this is or could be because right now, I don't even know where to begin with it.
P0015: Camshaft Position, Act B - bank 1, timing over retard
P0014: Camshaft Position, Act B - bank 1, timing over advanc.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Sir Frank
So I changed the plugs, did an oil change, switched the vanos solenoids and still doing the same thing. It seems to bog down when I try to rev it. The car is still running rough at idle and still showing the same codes
I had similar issues with mine. I pulled both cam sensors, and both vanos sensors. All were sludges up. I had to do an engine oil flush, and then pull the oil pan to remove the sludge. Also did a full service to include the fuel filter. 100 miles later, and no fault codes. The root cause was engine oil sludge. The last owner did not service this car.
Hi all if you get the vanos code 2845 or Pcode 0015 buy a new cylinder head and cams. The vanos is the sprocket on the cam. ( onPeugeot its the vvti) same crap engine. The problem is oil pressure feeding the cam carrier next to the exhaust vanos sprocket. These engines use 1 litre oil per 500 miles or worse. The cam carrier is also the seal for the oil which makes the vanos (vvi) work. To check remove the cam cap and check for wear any gaps buy a new head. Or trade in. Text for info please don't call. 07849668143. Buy timing kit on eBay £56. sorry to scare you all but i run and own a small garage have spent a whole week trying to fix this bundle of scrap for a friend wish I had a camera when I told him he also needed a new cylinder head plus cams to fix it after paying alot for parts.
P0014 on my '07 R56 base hatch at 88k miles. Resolved with oil change and new timing belt tensioner. My timing belt tensioner was VERY weak. Could easily compress with index finger and thumb - not good. Highly recommend going to Mini dealer so they can match the tensioner part number to VIN.
