Oil filter canister: spring loaded?

In the MCO web site "retroom" posted that his 2003 MC, December 2002 delivery had the older type canister which is spring loaded. My MC is May 2002 build, but I don't know whether it has the spring. Comments, anyone?

P.S. I'll ask my dealer next month when I'm due for my 10K oil change, but I'd like to know sooner.

zgocart,

I looked at your gallery, in the first picture your car is parked next to mine - the yellow one.

Have 2005 Mini Copper S and just changed oil. I was wandering if there are 2 springs or just one. When i was wiping out the part on the engine block i felt the little pop up spring that is connected. But when after wiping out the canister you screw off with the filter in it, i didn't see any springs but the one that i mentioned. Could someone please help and tell me if there is a spring other than the one i mentioned. P.S. the canister i screwed off is not plastic, it is metal. Thanks
