Dear All
This is my first post on this forum so please be gentle! We have a R56 1.6 petrol auto Mini Ray bought from the dealer in 2013. I have done our own servicing from new. The dealer wanted $650 to change the oil so we decided to trade off resale value for saving money now. The car is at 49,250km give or take. I have just carried out a service, changed oil, oil filter and airfilter. I have to admit that the service light came on a few weeks back but was then followed by a brake warning light which got me off my transom and into the garage. New pads and sensors were needed and I fitted them this afternoon (as well as doing the service). I have cleared all the red lights from the dashboard and the car feels 100%.
The pads and sensors are OEM from the local Mini dealer which worked out CHEAPER than the local motor factors.
However... There is a small yellow triangle with an exclamation mark next to the odometer reading. In the past, this has displayed after a warning such as low fuel or low temperature has pinged up in the square display where the speed normally reads and has been accepted by pressing the left stalk but that hasn't happened this time. There are NO other fault lights showing, red or amber, anywhere else on the car. I have visually checked coolant, washers, oil, brake fluid and tyres and they are all at the right level, it is only 5C here in Canberra (according to Monty) tonight but I don't get the snowflake warning until 3C. There were no heavy weights on any of the seats (beyond my backside on the driver's seat) so I think we can rule out seat belts (and mine was done up). The ONLY other 'event' in the car's life was hitting a kangaroo last week which has left a dent in the bonnet (soon to be fixed by the local body shop) but no other visible damage and there was no sign of the triangle at the time.
I am open to ideas.
David
