Wondering, how do you guys go about cleaning the motor in your Mini? With my Stang I just go to the carwash, cover the coil packs, fuse box, etc. with plastic bags and carefully spray her down. With the electrical issues on Mini's doesn't seem like water under high pressure would be a good ideal.
All my engines have been spotless except when the Cooper D's intercooler pipe shat itself and spewed oil everywhere but I just power washed it down.
Providing your electrics are sealed with a water repellent and wrapped up then a power wash is fine but only spray in the areas where the engine is caked in dirt/ oil. Usually some parrifin or engine degrease presoaked into the dirty areas prior to cleaning makes it quicker and easier as it dissolves the crud...
Thanks Sean, my Mini's motor is spotless too, However in Oklahoma where the wind seems to blow constantly and red dirk abounds, dust and dirt does tend to cake up over time. That and my wife owns a house in the country with gravel road about one mile off the paved road we go to how and then. Just wanted to double check and not make serious blunder. Thanks again mate.
Hey Sean, which airline do ya recommend, United, Continental or TWA. Lol, oh you mean an airhose (term we use here across the pond). I'm being silly but I love the difference in expressions and terms between our two countries. Minione, think I'll follow your suggestion rather than the high pressure water. Thanks again guys.
The paint mini uses in their engine bays is very thin and comes off if it's scrubbed to much, believe me.
Try not to scrub too much [emoji4]
