hi
it's me again here to pick your brains. since fitting my engine I've been enjoying the mini for around 2 weeks now.
it may be nothing it may be me but it feels underpowered.
I don't seem to hear the whine as I remember when I first got it.
I have looked at my bypass valve one think I noticed is that the actuator arm of the bypass valve is hitting the throttle body black plate.
Is this normal. also i guess I could have a boost leak I guess.
Hey mate, you should be able to press the actuator arm and feel it return, if its sticking or the spring inside has snapped then it obviously wont play the game so you wont get any boost over 2700 rpm or higher or one heck of a lag. Pretty sure Modmini covers this on his youtube channel with a better explanation (has moving pics with sound ), you will have it sorted in a jiffy.
OK, as per the 3 images, it looks to me that something on yours isn't aligned or sitting correctly. I have shown arrows where there should be space. Is the TB sitting correctly ? on any locating lugs.
Just to add, looking at your photo, it looks like you have a black bracket that is in the wrong location which is blocking the valve arm.
Edit: just checked an image in the Haynes manual and your bracket looks OK, the Bentley Manual doesn't show the bracket or any suitable images, will check mine and update this post.
Edit2: def no black bracket on my S so god knows what was left off by the dealership when they last worked on it. Even so, the bracket should not be blocking the arm for the BPV as there should be plenty of room.
thanks for that. I'm sure that is now causing me to have no boost or low boost. It's a great sunny day here to day so with with my throttle body it is lol. great help Milpol thanks again
well back in ended up removing the lot. one of the pipes in the intake tube was missimg the red clip.so I sorted that as the pipe was disconnected.i reconnected it all moved that bracket new clips on all hoses. Took it out for a drive and had around 0.5 bar of boost that around 7psi I think.so I think I must still have a leak some where or my supercharger is playing up.
