| My dealer and MINI said within 100 miles or so Silk Green 2002 Cooper Premium Package (A/C Sunroof Multifunction Steering wheel) Tinted windows, TSW R-System Rims and 17" Yokahama Tires. |

| nope haven't gotten to the first oil change yet (soon tho) but I plan on telling the service manager exactly how many miles I have when I call to schedule the appointment and find out if its 'close enough' |

| This subject has been posted on recently elsewhere, when some dealers said within 600 miles or so, some 1000, my Cooper had it's first service about 400 miles early (or maybe more) when it had some warranty work carried out. |

| I hope that you have already changed your oil once or twice already?? 10,000 miles is a very long time for oil (No matter if it came from Heaven because the cars are still here on earth!) Specially if it is the very first time because of all the Break in metal in the oil! |
| ||||
| I got mine done almost 1500mls early. I had to go in twice tho', 1st time they informed me that it was 1500mls too early (I did explain this when the car went in), 2nd time I explained that I was going to France for 2 weeks, and wanted it doing before I went rather than go over the schedule limit - to this they called Mini who had to authorise the early use of the TLC voucher, which they did. What I'm basically saying is that TLC will only pay for servicing at the time indicated by you service indicator. Anything else will have to be authorised by Mini / your dealer. There's nothing stopping you paying for a service tho'.......regardless of what you indicator says. |

| tried to get the dealer to change my oil right after the break-in (2000km) but got totally rejected. even if i said i'd pay for the change.... i m one of the old fashion guy and think it is necessary. bought the oil filter from the parts dept and got it changed at one of those quick oil change stop at the gas station.... the car felt much much much better after the change. |
| |||
| I am friends with someone who works in a MINI service department and he tells me that, the rules covering TLC servicing are that the car can be serviced within 1000 miles of the specified mileage. i.e You can have your 10,000 mile service anytime after 9,000 miles. |

I've got just under 7K miles on the clock and my service indicator is showing less than 1,700 miles to my first oil service. At that rate, my 10K service will be at the 8,700 mark. I assume that the countdown takes your driving habits into account, i.e., stop and go local v. highway miles. In any event, I already changed my oil and filter at 1,500 and 6,500 miles. |
