errr, they look awful. ruin the lovely lines of the mini. Id risk it getting dinged, cos at least until it does it looks good, and thats why u brought it in the first place.

Those strips may be partially functional, but they are U G L Y !!

There are a poor substitute for finding a proper parking space (a.k.a. the one furthest away)

15 months of MINI ownership and NO parking lot dings on my daily driver Cooper S.

+ 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather
+ 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed

Not for me even though my car did get dinged(parked in a good spot too),
I still prefer the nice smooth luck, tho they could be handy the ODD time though

I don't like them at all. These door protectors rely on the edges of other peoples doors being at the same height as the door protectors which is a rare occurrence.

Much better solution: drive a Land Rover to the supermarket.

I've been dying to get a really old LR, just for shopping trips. Park in the middle of two urban tanks (SUV's) and see who has the smoothest doors afterwards.

Great for tailgaters too. Punch the brakes... "what was that noise from behind?"... "Dunno, carry on". Scrape the Escort off the back when you get home

Think you'll find most owners on this site love their cars too much to choose something that compromises the lines of the car over staying away from the "dingers".
It's amazing we can love something so much that others can simply dismiss as a little box on wheels...

Stuart - unfortunatly the landys brakes are so poor that even an escort can outbrake them (most Landy owners look for trabants to drag race) - in the old examples the gearbox is much better at retarding the thing than the brakes

I'd agree though that if your parinoid about dings then a Series 2A Landy make sense - the more theyr bashed, the better they look

Having received a ding or two, those are also useless in protecting the car. My dings happened on the back of the car, not the actual door, probably from the backdoor of a 4 door car. Also, since car doors tend to be pointy, unless your strip lines up exactly with the point of the door, they're just going to bash your MINI above or below the strip.

Its a good thought, but unfortunately doesn't look like it'll do anything besides spoil the looks of your car.

Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball.

I saw a car with those (in fact maybe it was that one, the one I saw was silver too) at MINIs On Top (Mt Washington Rally) this past June. Unfortunately, that only narrows it down to 73 MINI owners. Well, 72, I know it's not mine. Maybe someone from the MINIs On Top threads in the "COMMUNITY > SOCIAL AND REGION SPECIFIC - USA REGIONAL > NEW YORK AND NEW ENGLAND REGION" section might be able to help...

Nope. Not me.
Mine was the all silver at MOT with the REALLY UGLY black door guards that I took off as soon as I learned how to. Seems the prior owner had special ordered some BWM door guards and then hand shaped them to shorten them to the door length. YUCK.

BTW even though the silverish ones pictured above on the silver/black are not as obvious as mine were, they still ruin the lines of the car.

Please, take them OFF.
