any you do you is best washed off immediately after use (regardless of how safe the bottle may say IMO). Bug-N-Tar remover works well ... diesel fuel works also
I find that the P-21S car wash soap does a surprisingly good job at bug-removal. You might still need some of the Bug-n-Tar spray for the tough spots, though.
Keeping a good coat of wax on the car makes bugs easirer to clean off, also washing at least once a week helps too.
Avoid those nasty sponges with the rough side or rough cover - your clear coat WILL scratch if you use one of these - especially on a dark car!
I personally have a squirty bottle filled with 25/75 car wash to water and squirt the front end in advance of washing the car so that the bugs have softened up. Also good to soak the wheels with too.
I agree that the best weapon against bugs is a good coat of whatever wax product you prefer. Rain-X/Wax on the windshield makes cleaning up those bugs far easier as well.
If you do those things first, then your carwash soap shouldn't have a problem cleaning you right up.
I tried the Turtle wax stuff, wasn impressed it gets in the gaps between body panels and lights etc,, never comes out.
Oh I do alot of mileage on the motorway, about 500 a week, so found the best way is a wash at least once a week with macguirs gold, and regular waxing makes them easier to remove, do mine every 2 weeks. Also keep the finishing spray in the car to remove them when I can straight away.
Oh and if you are after something to get those that have been on for ages the spray and clay bar from macguirs it the best, no marks or residue.
i reckon the cheapest way is by using a small amount of white spirits applied with some kitchen towel. this works for the most of the horrible bugs. halfords own bug remover is damn good as well though.
