Wiper Blades?

My windscreen wiper blades have just split on my Mini Cooper and I wanted to know if the TLC package covers replacement windscreen blades?

Probably not - as this would be deemed as wear and tear, check with your dealer though.

How long have you had the car? I replaced mine after a year as they had split and their wiping performance was not so good. I consider them a consummable items so didn't expect the dealer to pay for them. The two fronts cost ~£16 to replace.

Mine split after 12 months (of me having the car - I don't know about before). Bought Halfords' own as couldn't get to a MINI dealer. OMG are they crap or what???? The passenger wiper takes the rain to the centre of the window as normal, but the driver wiper doesn't take away the water. Trust me after 2 days I went and got some proper ones!!

The driver's side has a small wing on it. I have replaced mine and I currently don't have the wing on and it is terrible. A good third of the drivers side the wiper is totally airborne over 50 MPH. How do you get the wing back on or are you using a dealer replacement?

I did exactly the same as scoobydoo, get the dealer wipers. They were cheaper as well. Free to the first who calls - 1 set of Halfords wiper blades, hardly used. Buyer collects

Rule of thumb, change them on 10K miles whether you think they need it or not, very soon after they will do.

Mine were replaced under warranty.
My rear just split and I hate driving 55 miles to get it replaced. Anybody have any experience with a DIY replacement for the back blade?

If I remember correctly, the manual recommends you change wiper blades twice a year.
They cost me about £22 for a full set (fronts + rear) from my dealer.

Has anyone found and tried the 5 blade windscreen wiper inserts for the front, if so are they any better than the originals, how much and where did you get them from?

no not tried them but i have just fitted a set of bosch ones with spoilers!
they are fantastic!
best bit is i got them from speeding.co.uk free delivery to the uk on anything!
i get all my bits and cleaning products from them !
give them a try!

My wipers didn't have much life in them either - done 19500 miles on a Sept. 51 Cooper and am now on 3rd set of front blades!

Mine went after about 15 months - was away on mainland UK for Christmas, came back and the wipers were falling to bits.

Replaced them with some Champion ones from local car parts shop (no, no Halfords on Jersey....thankfully...although no Bosch either...) and got the MINI ones after a week as the Champion's weren't sweeping the same area. They were the same size, but the offset seemed to be such that they swept 1 - 2cm lower, which when you're 6ft3 in a MINI is a bit of a pain!

which size did you get for your cooper? the "spoiler" part doesnt look "boy racer" does it? im not really into all that sort of stuff as it makes a good looking cooper look naff!
