Detailer prices?

Ok, so it's winter, and DC got it's first snow. Just a couple inches, but my "Dark Silver" is looking more like "Ugly grey" thanks to the ice/salt/other that's been on the road.

It's also really cold. As a S. Florida native, 30 degrees is in fact REALLY cold for me.

So I've decided to go find me a detailer that'll hand wash and stuff. Anyone know how much these places usually cost? Just for a simple wash and vacuum and such. I put a nice heavy coat of wax before it got cold, so I shouldn't need that for a bit.

best thing to do is get the phone book out and call around. Prices vary greatly by location, even from town to town in my area.

True enough. I was just looking for a ballpark idea. Non-work phone calls are kinda forwned upon here, so actually speaking to anyone during business hours is difficult. Course, non-work internet use is just fine...

Detailing that includes wash (interior and exterior), wheels, dressing, leather treatment and wax(paste - not spray) can be anywhere from $50 to $100 bucks. Add simonize and the price can go up to $150 bucks.

Be careful of places that advertise hand wax. That doesn't always mean the apply and polish using manual labor (i.e. non-rotor polishers). Watch them wax and polish someone else's car first. Wax should be applied by hand. If they're really good - by bare hand. These are the guys that work on exotic cars although you will find that thery're prices will often in a totally different range but worth every penny. I use to work for one of them and they treat your car like their first born!

Good luck with the detailer.
