Angry Car Wash? CAR SCRATCH!

So much for getting quality maintenance at downtown MINI.....get bonnet stripes installed with a car wash...come out with scratches all over the car visible in the lime light! I wonder if they wash all their cars with the same equipment they used to wash and dry mine.... no one would buy a scratched up car!
What am i to do now? i've only had my MINI for 2 weeks and then scratch!!! they said that they would buff it out to fix the problem....THERE SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE! GRRRRRRRR

Wow. I thought this thread was going to be about a common car wash - not a dealer car wash! Cripes, that's awful and you have every right to be angry! Well, tis good they are going to rectify the problem. Hope it all turns out allright - hope you will demand that it does.

Unhappy

Thats bad news.
Get them to polish them out!

My MINI goes no where near a car wash, that includes the dealer. Jet wash only!

Just a warning to all MINI2ers.

Pop around the back of your friendly local BMW/MINI dealer and at most of them you'll find a normal petrol station type roller car wash. With so many cars to wash it's the fastest and cheapest method.

There is just one moon and one golden sun; And a smile mean friendship to ev'ryone; Through the mountains divide, and the oceans are wide; It's a small world after all.

My dealer doesn't wash cars when they go in for service, so I guess I don't have that worry

Actually, most car dealerships don't even go to this expense to wash their cars.

At a lot of car dealerships, and not only BMW/MINI, the task of washing the cars on the lot usually go to a kid who's handed a telescopic car-washing brush (yup, a BRUSH), a bucket of soapy water and a water hose.

A car washing brush to a recreational vehicle, that I can understand. Using a brush on a fine automobile? Only if hell freezes over!!

I usually make it a point to tell the car dealership not to wash my car if I take it in for servicing. Thanks, but no thanks for the 'courtesy' car wash

just curious, did they require you to purchase $1500 worth of accessories before they would sell you that car wash?

in all seriousness, they should have known better. in the future i think i will remember to ask them not to wash my car when i take it in for service (the trip to my dealer from orlando is about 200 miles)

If I had stayed long enough they probably would have asked for it! I gave them the slip! maybe that's why they scratched my car!! I should turn it around on them and ask them for the $1500 worth of accessories for scratching my car huh? but it's all good now, MINI is a ok.
about the $1500, i feel horrible for those that have to have that amount tagged on to their car when it is unnecessary. of course i'm sure that you could find accessories to add up to that price, but then you'll end up leaving the dealership after signing, wondering what you did!! for that fact alone, i did not get mine at downtown, found one where i could get it MSRP, had to order the car that i wanted but at least i designed it myself, interior and everything!! pretty sweet....been driving it for over 2 weeks now

If your car is scratched badly you may well need the top layer PC'ed to get rid of the swirls-
Take it to a detailer-
