Did a search on fuel line filters and came up with this thread.
Having some problems that are very hard to diagnose. Three dealers have not been able to figure it out. Car starts bucking like a bronco, usually at an engine rev speed close to lugging. WOT on track, no problemo.
DSC light comes on and eventually I get codes relating to A/F, O2 sensor, manifold pressure issues.
Have done a ton of stuff to narrow it down. Tightened all bolts, replaced header gasket, went back to stock throttle body and software, changed main relay. Checked the MAP sensors (supposedly). Need to check or replace O2 sensors(possibly). Still problems.
Next step is to replace spark plugs and wires. Need to do wires anyway. However, I keep saying to the various dealers that I am concerned about the fact that I travel around the country a lot and use gas from everywhere, plus I put 100 octane in at track on occasion. They all say don't worry about the fuel filter, it's good for a life time.
I don't get it. If it does its job and filters out crapola, won't it need changing at some point? How does this weird thing work?
