Offline | Black Trim Hi All, Had my MCS 3 weeks now and cleaned it 3 times, first cleaning was a couple of days after picking it up and I must say the black trim round the car wasn't fantastic in terms of being clean (white polishy marks). So I got myself some of the Meguirs trim detailer and last week when I washed the car, I used that, looked great . But when I've washed the car this week, the trim has bits of white here and there, which I am assuming is polish, but I guesss I'm dissapointed that the cleaning hasn't lasted longer . So should I be cleaning the trim everytime I wash the car, is this normal? Have I used the wrong product or is there something which would be better out there (i.e. last longer that a week).Cheers, Rowdy |

| MINIKUPA | trim detailer Try One Grand ERV. Great for black plastic lowers. Will also clean off any wax residue. Can be used on tires also. I didn't check but probably availabale on-line at AutoGeek.com or autosupermarket.com. Let me know if you can't locate it. I've never seen One Grand products in local stores. 1x a month I believe is adequate for trim. Tires 1x a week. Wouldn't use for interior vinyl. Good Luck |

| MINI2 Irregular | I've always used Back to Black, but at every wash. It lasts pretty long, 2-3 weeks. In the summer I wash more often, but with winter it's been whenever it gets really dirty... this weekend got a break with a long stretch of relatively good weather, so I got out there and really washed her good and gave her a few coats of wax. The trim was in terrible shape and needed mulitple goins-over with BtoB. BTW Noticed (ick!) that my driver's seat (leatherette) had 2 tiny cracks... can anyone reccomend a good product to clean/condition the vinyl? Something not slippery or shiny Armor-all like... |

Offline | Try the peanut butter. I use smooth. It works. Actually it is amazing. But I wouldn't do it around your friends as you will be smiling at how well it works but they will still be laughing their heads off. Rich |

Offline | Not stupid at all. Put a little on a rag and rub it on the wax stains. They will disappear. If you do that with almost anything else (I tried Prepsol, bug and tar remover and any solvent I could find in my garage) the stains will come back when the solvent evaporates and some of them will discolor the plastic by themselves. With the peanut butter it simply works. Go figure. I resisted as well but take my word on this. It works. Rich |

Offline | I've been using and have heard really good things about 303 Aerospace protectant. Its available at most boat/marine shops. Also available online at North American Car Care. Protects and restores without the slick film. Also works great on the interior, even the dash, since it isn't glossy. d. '04 Cooper IB/IB, cvt, sport pkg, mfsw, obc |

Offline | Rowdyates - In the UK probably the best product that's readily available is Autoglym Bumper Care, from Halfords and other smaller car shops. Look for the green label on the bottle. Essentially use it after washing/waxing or polishing the car. It's the sort of consistency of washing up liquid and a similar colour, but you apply it like a wax. Just a tiny amount on a cloth or v.soft brush (e.g. old toothbrush) worked in, then rubbed off lightly with a lint-free cloth if necessary. A little goes a v.long way and brings it back up to showroom condition - just got to have a steady hand because it's all too easy to smear it along the bodywork too! The only thing I'd be warey of if you do use the peanut butter is - especially in the UK - it can attract wasps as well as dogs & cats. (if you do a search for Autoglym you can see it's not just me that supports it!) |

Offline | We're not kidding about the Peanut Butter. I use Skippy's Smooth and Creamy which works a treat! The theory is that the peanut oil dissolves the wax residue. After applying, you simply wash it off and treat as before with your favorite dressing (not salad - Megiuir's or Back-to Black, etc.). I keep a jar in the garage and the kids always get a laugh when I apply the peanut butter. |

Offline | Better yet - loose the black trim! Personally I just don't like the black trim look and surprised that there is not a factory option to have these things painted. Have a look at my persnal gallery - decided to have our BRG MCS monotoned including the OEM aerokit - looks great but of course I'm biased! Cheers, Ciaran.
