Unhappy Arrrghhh - roof scratch!

Just parked my 2-day-old MINI and realised that there's a scratch along the whole of the white roof. In my haste to determine if it was a scratch or not, I wet my finger and rubbed it, causing a little dirt to go into it - the scratch now looks like a light grey at one end.

It doesn't appear to be very deep at all; more like a light surface scratch as there is no metal visible underneath. Any ideas what products I should use to remove this? I was thinking Meguiar's Scratch-X?

While I'm on, I'd love some advice RE washing my car and what sort of wax etc. to apply to Cosmos Black as I've never owned a car before. I was looking at Meguiar's stuff again and it seems to get glowing reviews. A shopping-list type of thing would be great.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Get Scratch-X remover from Meguiar's. Loys of elbow grease but well worth results. I suspect it is only a very superficial scratch, easily removed.

Make sure cats are not climbing on your roof, thus causing the scratches.
