Spark plug interval

Although there is no mention of mileage interval between spark plug changes in the Owners Manual, many people mention that the platinum plugs are good for 100k miles before replacement. Moss Mini are advertising their NGK four-pronged platinum spark plugs and recommend an inspection every year and a change every two years.

At an average of 12k driven miles per year, that recommendation suggests you change your spark plugs every 24,000 miles. It seems Moss MINI is stretching the truth figuratively and shrinking it practically. What is anyone's experience?

I think spark plugs should be changed every 75k miles and get clean as often as possible by the owner. Dirty spark plugs can seriously hurt gas mileage. Although they're expensive, I still think it is bad for environment and wasteful to change them often. It is like buying new cars every 3 years of exact make and model even though the current vehicle is doing fine and just need basic maintenance care. Americans are notoriously for wasting things. That's because we got a whole lot of used land, resource, money, and time that we don't know what to do with. We have no problem paying 1.20 for a small bottle of water from the vending machine even though the water fountain is free and located right beside it. However, we got big problem paying more than a dollar for a gallon of gasoline because our SUV is our way of life and no one can tell use we can't and shouldn't be driving around by ourself in our giant ship even though our young men and women are dying each day in Middle East to ensure lower oil price. We're crazy like that, don't you hate us.

For the record, I don't own an SUV and would never want one. I may get a small truck for special purpose such as home improvement, winter vacation to sky resorts and other places, or go to work in deep snow. However, I would go with a all-wheel drive alternative of a high gas mileage vehicle in a heart beat. I actually like to live on clean earth as long as possible.

As rich as the MINI runs I really don't think you'll get 100K.
Technically the plug may be capable of working but it'll be so carboned up it may not work right.
I changed to Iridiums at 6-7K and my stok plugs were looking dirty. I've since changed to a colder plug to go with the pulley. I sold my other Iridiums at the pulley party and they looked decent after arounf 3-4K miles.

I'd like to see a pic of someones stock plug after 15-20K

72k miles...

...and I haven't done a thing to my plugs yet. Maybe when I get a weekend I'll pop them out and take a gander. I have NOT noticed any drop is gas mileage, which is why I haven't even considered looking at the plugs yet..

Me.
