Engine Restorer...Has anyone used it???

Hi folks,

I want to ask if anyone use this product called Engine Restore. It is a thick blue liquid that claims to restore lost compression, seal leaks, and recondition the metal by working into the pores of cylinder walls.

There are few metal conditioner such as Militec-1, CLP (clean, lube, and protect), and Firepower-10 that people use to clean their guns and condition the inside of the barrel, aka bore. These products are heavily tested and proven to actually condition the metal do ensure long usage under the high pressure of thousands after thousands of rounds going down the barrel.

I wonder if Engine Restore is the automotive version of metal conditioner or it is just another additive, aka snake oil.

Here is the webpage: http://www.restoreusa.com/restorer.html

I already know Teflon and additive do not belong in engine. I also read the thread on "mixing or not mixing oil" so please do not go into detail about how it is bad if I mix this and that. I already know it is ok to mix oil with oil and it is not ok to use additive. I just need to know if Engine Restore is another additive or actually something else. It is stocked in a different section from gas and oil additives and is not labeled as additive. There is not any study on this product and it is impossible to find the ingredient.

This is basically a very thick oil to decrease lost compression and oil consumption
from worn rings/cylinders.
It can delay the necessity of rebuilding the bottom end of a worn engine a while, but
I don't think it has any real protective value, and I wouldn't use it on a sound engine.
Click and Clack talk about this from time to time on their Cartalk radio show.

Who's Click and Clack?

My old Mazda 626 idled poorly at 90k miles. I put 1 can of that stuff in and she ran smoothly. However, the transmission gave out 10k later. I sold it for 200 bucks because I didn't have money to buy new tranmission and my apartment doesn't allow people parking non-working cars. All of my money got tied up with a house down payment at the time, and the deal went south. I got my money back and postpone buying a house for awhile since I hate putting myself in that broke-ass situation again.

Click and Clack are Tom and Ray Magliozzi , also known as the Tappet Brothers. They do
a public radio show (on NPR stations) called CarTalk, where among other things, people call in
with questions about their cars, and they give advice and opinions. Check it out.

Thanks, I'll be sure to check them out. We have Goss garage here and he's part of MotorCraft or something like that. The only problem with him is that his show is heavily endorsed by a product called BG or something like that. It sounds like an additive. He refers as many people to this product as possible because it helps pay his salary and keep his show on the air. Additive can be bad for engine, so I am not sure if I should ask him about stuffs like that. Oh well, I'll give him a call next weekend or shoot him an email.
