Offline | Need to remove these scratches. Any advice? I washed my MINI the other day, and managed to put a rather long scratch into the paintwork. Having driven down a freshly resurfaced road, it seems that one of the tar covered stone chippings became stuck in the recess at the top of the bonnet..Whilst shampooing, I managed to dislodge this bit of stone and grind it down the front of the car. So, I rushed out to Halfords to get some T-Cut (Turtle Wax 'Safe Cut'). However, although I managed to make some of the smaller scratches slightly less noticeable, it didn't really have much impact.. Polishing seemed more effective. I can feel some of the upper scratches when I run my fingernail over them, but the ones lower down don't seem to be as deep. Has anyone got any advice as to how I can (try to) get 'rid' of them? People seem to be very enthusiastic about Scratch-X, but is it worth it when T-Cut hasn't really helped? Alternatively, does anyone know of a decent bodyshop in (North) Hampshire that might be able to work some magic on it without voiding paintwork warranty etc? Or is it best to seek some advice from a MINI/BMW dealer? |

Offline | Get This!!!!!!!! Just come back from the Motor show and bought just tha answere. I have surface and a few scratches & was thinking of bodyshop buffing but this liitle gem will save you hundreds- and I wouldn't have believed it till i saw it demonstrated TWICE. MER SCRATCH & STONE CHIP REMOVAL KIT retails at @ £25 at Halfords - everything included apart from touch up paint. dead simple pup thin blob of paint on scratch ( even bare metal scratch) let dry 12 hours ideally, then...wait for it......... rub down with wet & dry glasspaper!!! put tiny blob of Scratch remover on buffer pad ( which is fixed into drill head) then buff for 2 minutes.......Then hey presto no scratch.....Trrust me you have to see it demonstrated to believe your eyes. It is PERFECT!!!! I was told that this is what bodyshop guys actually do & use. £25 not bad. Ive used T-cut and colour wax and waht a waste. I'm going to 'do' some scratches this weekend If the scratch is just surface marks then just rub the marks with the Scratch Removal paste add sprinkle of water and just rub with cloth and likewise it disappears. Don't ask me how its done it just looks perfect- can't feel a thing -like brand new. there must be info on the web about the product. The car polish is suppose to be the best on the market too. |
