Offline | How long between services? Hi all, I just received my first Mini service from the dealer (for free!). However, I am at 11,500 miles! When I picked it up from the dealer, it now says 15,400 mile before the next change/service. You hear so many ads that state change every 3,000 miles. I understand that Mini has a detector that determines when the oil is dirty however another 9-10K miles sees like alot! I just want to get maximum life from my engine! How many miles does everyone else get? Thanks, --Steve |

Offline | My first oil service was aound 12-13k miles (we had the cold start problem and they did the service with over 1k miles left on the clock). We now have 27k miles and 5000 left until inspection 1. I find that even with synthetic oil, I want to change the oil between MINI services. I did the first change at 5 or 6k to get all the break-in crap out and another around 19k. I just replaced my air filter because it was black and cruddy (check yours). After TLC is up, I'll probably change oil every 7500 miles. Synthetic oil will last longer than regular. To clear something up, the MINI doesn't have an oil detector. It determines service intervals by the type of driving you do. Long highway trips will yeild longer service intervals and lots of traffic or short trips will shorten it. |

Offline | You can reset oil service indicator if you wish. I have reset mine once and it started counting back down from 15,000 miles to indicate when the oil change was due. At this point, I have just under 63 K miles and have been changing my oil every 5000 miles +/- 200. I have never really thought about reseting it other than at the 15K interval. ![]() "We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail..." -- President George W. Bush - Sept. 20, 2001 |
