| MINI2 Newbie | Changing rear brake pads Hi, I think there is very little information available about changing the brake pads on the Mini. I intend to do the rear pads this weekend and I will take pictures and see if I can write a quick how-to guide for everyone. However, I still have a couple of question before starting the job: -Should I remove the brake fluid reservoir top before starting? -Should I need to remove the caliper to set the new pads? -I know I need a wind back tool for the rear piston, but who knows exactly which adapter fits the best? Any pictures? -Which other tools are needed? Size of socket? -Which torque setting for the wheels bolt and caliper bolts? -Should I lubricate ends of pads, which contact and slide in caliper bracket? Thanks for any answers ![]() ...Sushi |

| MINI2 Newbie | Thanks, for the link Max. So, we have some answers, but still a couple of question. Let me summarise: -Should I remove the brake fluid reservoir top before starting? Not really needed (?) -Should I need to remove the caliper to set the new pads? Yes. -I know I need a wind back tool for the rear piston, but who knows exactly which adapter fits the best? Any pictures? ?????? -Which other tools are needed? Size of socket? Use a socket wrench with a 16mm socket and breaker bar to remove the two bolts that hold the caliper to the hub carrier. -Which torque setting for the wheels bolt and caliper bolts? ?????? -Should I lubricate ends of pads, which contact and slide in caliper bracket? Not really needed (?) ...Sushi |
