Zaino Car Polish UK

Hi,

Has anyone tried Zaino on their car, there's some for sale on ebay.co.uk and was wondering if anyone in the UK has tried the stuff??

Cheers,

MM.

Yep,I had it shipped from the states, its an excellet product, have alook at the Zaino web site and follow their instructions and you will get an amazing finish.

Be sure to buy the ZFX as this helps "cure" the polish in cold weather

Had a look on ebay link

Seems pricey when you consider the ZFX accelerator is £22 plus postage and from Zaino it's £12.31 ($22).

I realise that the german importer isn't cheap either but it still seems pricey if you add the cost of the wax and zfx together compared to meguiars, autoglym and the like.....is Zaino realy THAT much better on a car about to go through the UK winter?

Good find though

Hey!

Yeah before i got my Mini i had read all about Zaino, and decided that it was the only thing i was going to use.

So i tried to track the stuff down. Which was a hastle as Zaino will not ship to the UK... dont even try.. he refuses to But he is the post helpful guy i have spoken too, he answers every mail.

I spoke to his contact in germany and got the Show car polish kit.

The most usefull and mazing product in the kit is the clay bar. I decided i was going to do my boot because it felt rough, washed thec ar with washing up liquid, then clay bar'd the boot. Although my car was new, i was amaxzed by the sheer amount of surface contamination it had removed. And how rough the rest of the panels felt in comparison.

Anyway i spent a good couple of hours clay-bar'ing and then use the Z1 polish with ZFX addiditive, then the gloss enhancer spray

WOW, the smoothness of the paint was amzing, the rest of my family couldnt stop touching it, and it made putting the car cover on very interesting as it kept slipping off.

If you can get it and are willing to pay over the top for car polish this is well worth it.

I will say that in the UK, follow Zaino's instructions and leave the polish on the car for well over the time he suggests of 30 mins. Here on a hot evening leave it on for a couple of hours then polish off.

Buy some Pure cotten towles from www.speeding.co.uk.

Yeah, they came up better than i expected, but i just used the same polish and gloss enhancer.

It leaves the pain finish feeling very soft.

thanks Yes i have used it all up, and i need to order some more.

Personally i wouldnt buy the complete kit again, as there is a few bits you dont need. Look at buying the following on its own.

Z-2 Show car polish for clear coated finishes or/and Z-5 Show car polish (only if you have paint that has fine scratches and swirl marks, as z-2 isnt abrasive and z-5 is slightly.
ZFX - You mix 2 drops of this with the Z-2 or Z-5, and it enhances the shine
Z-6 ultra Clean gloss Enhancer Spray
Z-7 Show car wash (not essential, but worth it if your using other Zaino products)
Z-16 perfect Tyre gloss (very good, stays on trim and tyres for ages, isnt sticky and doesnt attract dirt but other products are just as good)
Z-18 clay bar - a must have, it is amazing

You need to get 5 or so cotton applicators, they are fairly cheap and wont damage or mark the paint at all, like the cheap cloths from halfords can.

If you dont want to pay the extra, the Meguiars or Zymol products are much better than the other off the shelf ones, but the Meguiars isnt quite as good as Zaino, although they have tried to match the products.

A little goes along way, but you do need several coats of the stuff, and after youve mixed the ZFX with the Z-2 /5 in a mixing bottle, you cannot keep it to use another day as the ZFX wont work, you need to tip what you dont use down the sink, and it feels like a waste.

WOW - how much are you using on each application? You should be able to get at least 10 full coats out of a bottle of Z2 or Z5. The thinner the coats, the better.

I haven't found any other product that can touch Z-16. Not only does it do what you say, but it doesn't turn a nasty brown when exposed to rain or get slung off right after applying like every other product I've ever used. It also works great on the weatherstripping - apply, let soak in for a couple of minutes, then wipe off excess (leave the doors/boot open while the Z-16 dries). Works great on all the exterior black plastic trim as well. I wouldn't recommend using it on the interior plastic though (doesn't smell too good).

aphix - you don't need to use ZFX every time - I don't particuarly like it for anything other than building up a base of Z5 quickly. Z1 should be applied every 8-12 coats to "pull" the layers back together. Z1 is the most underrated Zaino product out there, unfortunately.

Aphix: Stunning!!!

While I wait for my MCSC I am getting serious about learning to detail and keep my finishes looking their best.

After much research, I chose Zaino. I bought the full kit, and added the plastic cleaner as well. Upon re-order I'll just need additional accelerator and Z2. I've been doing cars that don't have swirls and so haven't needed the Z5. I will try the Z1 though

As a personal review I'd say it's awesome. I cannot believe the great results...being a sealant rather than a wax it doesn't get into all the plastic bits causing a removal problem...I have 4 coats on my wife's Honda CR-V and it's beautiful and very well protected!

The hardest part is getting it on thin enough. It just isn't natural to use so little. I did the Cr-V with one ounce per coat...which is about 1/4 to 1/2 ounce too much. I'm in a very dry climate and it dried very quickly making repeated coats easy. Remember though that your finish will only be as good as your preparation! Using the clay bar - either Zaino's or others is mandatory..you won't believe how much you can exfoliate from your cars skin! And it's so easy to do. I also used a pre-wax cleaner/polish but if your paint is top shelf you may not need to.

When you finish a two coat application...best to wait a few days before doing more...and it won't feel nearly as smooth as it will after a few days. Cotton Terry towels do work best..tried Microfiber towels and they did not do as well...

The best site I've found for detailing information and support is www.autopia.org but be careful...it's very addictive! You'll find reviews of scores of products including some from Germany which might be more easily obtainable...the forum is a treasure trove of information and there's a free detailing guide you can download.

Most importantly...have fun!!

I think i used too much your both right though, it doesnt feel natural to use so little. Im used to using loads of industrial polish that comes in unmarked cans.

It looks twice as stunning in bright sunshine, but now the weather over here seems to be going downhill, so finding a weekend of nice weather is near impossible, and after work it gets to dark.

I'll take a look at that website though, im tempted not too as my family are all ready making comments about how often im washing cleaning it.

United-Kingdom Zaino wax

Here is the link to the German importer of Zaino http://www.viper-lifestyle.de
Anyone in the UK any experience with them? Do they deliver quite quickly? Although I buy lots of stuff online but that is almost always from British websites and I am slightly concerned about buying stuff from the Viper

Would it be cheaper to import from the US? I probabaly have to pay VAT and duty if I buy from there.

Sal Zaino wont export to the UK, you have to either get someone in the US to buy it and ship it to you, or you need to deal with Alex (i believe) at Viper.

I got all my stuff from him, although he took a while to respond the first time. He shipped very quick, and exactly what i asked for.

You will have to pay VAT if you import from the US, depending on the declaration value, but i didnt when i got it from germany
