Trying the NXT Tech Wax This Weekend

We're going to try the NXT Tech Wax this weekend when we wash Molly. We'll let you all know what we think.

Time for the update. Set out to wash Molly about noon this past Saturday. Started on the wheels and managed to get them all shined up. Still a little baked-on brake dust so we're headed to the dealer this Thursday to pick up some wheel cleaner.

Washed Molly using the Mr. Clean Auto-Dry system (which we love!) and let her finish drying. Moved her into the shade and started with the NXT. The stuff goes on very easy and a little goes a long way. Did the whole car and let it sit for 10-15 minutes like the package says. Grabbed my buffing cloth and started removing the excess. It comes off very easily! Excess removal was way easier than when I used the cleaner wax on my old '99 Civic (I'll never use cleaner wax again!). Anyway once finished, I went back and did a final buff'n'shine.

She looks stunning! If I had a digital camera I would post pics...but I don't. Anyway, it passed the "reflection test" for me. We're very happy and would reccommend it as a good alternative to Zaino for someone who doesn't need quite the Zaino shine and wants to avoid the 3-5 coats Zaino requires.

OOOH very interesting.... I do want to have a good looking car (when it finally arrives) but I've not hand washed a car for about 6 and was looking at starting doing it again with some trepidation.

Don't get me wrong I know a mini deserves it but I am lazy at heart and would love a "quick win" option for cleaning/waxing !!!

Thumbs up

I used this product a couple of weeks ago and I have to say I'm impressed. I used to use P21S and was very happy with the results until now. My car is much wetter looking. You can't beat the ease of application. I highly recommend it. Two thumbs up!!

got to use the NXT today. The shampoo really didnt seem much different to the gold class - very rich & plenty of suds but it would really help if they changed the instructions from 'about 1oz per gallon ' to 'x number of capfuls' - who can guess a liquid ounce? seemed less streaky when rinsed off than the gold class.

next was a polish with autoglym super resin as there was quite a bit of tar spot & insect splatter on the paint. then 2 coats of NXT wax which was an absolute doddle to use. its very rich so a little goes a long way, especially if you use the foam pad applicator. a tip i picked up on another thread was not to try to apply it right up to the edges of the plastic trim but to leave a 1/4" or so gap but even so it doesnt dry white like the gold class so any over-run doesnt stain the plastic. buffing off was just as easy with none of that white powder residue. it really does seem to reduce swirling & fine scratches & this is the result after 2.5 hours of washing, polishing & waxing:

ps anyone want to buy 1/2 bottle of meguairs gold class wax & 1/2 bottle of autoglym?

I've tried this stuff today too.

The results are excellent. Much better that the Gold Class and a lot easier to apply and buff up.

Really makes the colour seem alot richer and darker also very very smooth too.

I have also used NXT Wax and am happy with the results, with the exception of one issue. For the 2 washes immediately after waxing, my Mr. Clean Auto Dry Carwash System seemed not to sheet the water off the car as before the NXT wax. I normally wash my car once a week, and occasionally twice, as with Mr. Clean it can be accomplished in 15 minutes. I suspect that there is some sort of interraction between the NXT wax and the Mr. Clean polymers that hinder the sheeting process. As of the 3rd wash after applying NXT, the water sheets off the car as before. Its not as if the water was prevented completely, but for those 1st two washes there were places where the water beaded and didnt sheet. Overall I am happy with NXT wax, as it produces a beautiful shine and is very easy to apply. I just have to be careful for the first few washes after, so as not to leave watermarks.

NXT is not a wax, it is a polymer. Given that, has anyone tried or considered putting a layer of carnauba over their NXT shine?

I am about to do a full cleaner wax application followed by re-application of NXT, and I need to decide whether to take that additional step as well. One downside, I guess, is that I will have more residue to clean off of the black trim. NXT cleans up easily; cleaner and carnauba both less so.

On the megs uk forum - it's been sussed out that a second application of NXT 24hours after the first gives the best results.

Also applying megs #16 wax over it apparently works well too - but why put another wax over it when it's so easy to use in the first place!

I've also got the spray wax which i thought was pants until i sussed out it's best used when the car is wet after rinsing - spray a little over over the car then wipe over the car with a MF drying towel or terry cloth, then buff up with another clean MF towel - works like a great quick detailer that way.

the only problem with waiting 24 hours is if the car is outside you've got to re-rinse the car to wash off any dust or grit thats blown onto it

Yup - unfortunately that is the case Hat - unless you have a vacuum packed garage!

It takes months to wash off enough wax/protectant to matter.
