What car wash shampoo?

what do people use to wash your mini?

a 'wash and wax' shampoo or a bog standard shampoo?

I heard somewhere its best to just use standard stuff with no wax?

Right for car shampoo, go for the Maquires Gold Class = it is a goldi coloured liquid!!!

For wax at the moment I use the Auto Glym - Resin polish (Red Label) and the Extra Gloss and protection (Gold Label) - these are very good combinations and will get that just bought look even with mine after a year old..!!!

But I am going to try the new Maquires All In one Wax, Polish & Protection - This comes in a sparly purple box, and is said to be realy good.

To make sure you have done a good job of waxing & polishing your car, put a 100% cotton cloth at top of bonet and gently tape it, if it falls to the floor its a good job, and if not re-do it.

Have I gone on here, is it becasue I'm getting old ummm, time will tell, anyways hope this helps.

I only ever use "normal" shampoo for my car. Currently using the Meguiars NXT wash, smells gorgeous mmmmmmmmm
Another good one is Sonax, the only problem with that is it's only available from (cough)Vauxhall dealers (cough).

If you want some nice sheepskin wash mitts to take care of your nice new MINI, they have some here http://www.sheepskinshop.co.uk/accessories.htm £11 for 2. They are well worth it

______________

I've read some good reviews of the Meguiar's NXT wax, not wash. If the wash is anywhere as good as the wax, it should just be great. The NXT wax is, I believe, actually an acryllic finish and not a real carnauba wax. So, it's probably in direct competition with Zaino.

I like Meguiars Deep Crystal (pink bottle) shampoo. It's inexpensive, lathers well & leaves everything (including the plastic trim) just a little glossy.

I use Pinnacle Natural Brilliance on my black mini. The results are incredible and you will smell like coconuts when you're finished!

another megs nxt user here. i dont think the wash is much different to the gold class but both are very rich & you can feel the oils in them. they smell lovely too.

i wouldnt use an all in one wash & wax, you're not really getting a proper protective layer of wax on the car with those, just a cosmetic shiny finish

My long-time favourite is P21S bodywork shampoo. Have just bought (but not tried yet) the Einszett Perls shampoo and, of course, Zaino Z7.

YES! this is the stuff. i really dislike megulars stuff, i think it's cheap crap dressed up as dear crap. any of their products i've used have been very underwhelming. it's just off the shelf stuff, not really very specialised.

the autoglym stuff doesn't really lather but it cleans well, lasts well and forms a really good base for a wax. i like, for just 'normal' washing, to use the autoglym and the zymol wax you get in halfords.

as a polish, i like Autoglym Super resin, which i use maybe once every two or three months. for real shine, use the real zymol stuff- it's too dear to use all the time- just special occasions.

i suggest a quick look at www.thepolishingcompany.co.uk (think that's the right address, maybe it's without the 'the')

TVR Tuscan S. 400bhp, 0-60 3.8 0-100 8.08. 195mph. Silver/Black roof Cooper. Hillclimb MK2 Fiesta. 150bhp. Beats Subarus. Building a 'bike engine single seater. 320kg, 200bhp. around 600bhp per ton. 0-100 6 seconds.

Definately the Megs NXT!! Only problem is the distinct craving for a bag of Dolly Mixtures afterwards!!

Yep I have vravings for jell bears after cleaning my car. Just used the NXT today, and its brought my car up to a nice shine. Its only just noticable (the improvement) compared to the AutoGlym, nothing realy between them. but hey if it protects my baby then all the better ey!?
