Question Cooper clutch fluid?

Is the clutch on the 5-speed Cooper hydraulic or cable? The parts list posted on another thread lists hydraulic clutch cylinders so I imagine it is hydraulic. If so, is it a system that might need to be flushed or topped off at some point or is it maintenance free? I've only owned cable clutched vehicles before but don't see any clutch fluid resevoirs either in the owner's manual or in under the hood so I'm wondering if it really is hydraulic?

The VW Jetta GLX I used to have had a hydraulic clutch that tapped into the brake fluid reservoir. One of the tasks when changing the brake fluid was depressing the clutch pedal several times in order to flush the old fluid out of the clutch slave cylinder.

The clutch is hydraulic. You can top off as needed, but every two years you should flush the brake and clutch systems and refill with fresh fluid. The MINI uses Castrol fluids,so that means(I think it means)the hydraulic fluid is Castrol Response DOT 4.Castrol Response DOT 4 and Super DOT 4 are not sold in the US,but you can use any quality brand DOT 4 fluid in the car.

Brake fluid

I'd guess Castrol LMA fluid would be acceptable. Personally, I use ATE Super Blue fluid in my vehicles, and alternate it with ATE's amber colored version of the same fluid when performing a flush - the color change lets you know when all the old fluid is gone!

resevoir

The clutch hydraulics are fed from the brake fluid resevoir through the pipe you can see leading out from the side of it.
