I'm up for an inspection 2 and calling around for my Cooper 5sp, I've found:

Neillo Sacramento: $450
Concord: $470
East Bay MINI: $950

That's not a typo, East Bay MINI really does want double. I have noticed some differences, they include extra service, like changing the spark plugs, which others consider a 100,000 mile service. But, they also exclude one - they will only inspect the poly v-belt (serpentine belt), whereas Neillo said he would replace it.

Since I'm out of warranty, I'm thinking forget all of them, inspection 2 replaces very few parts, most of it is, "a thorough inspection." I love to work on cars and have strained to keep my hands off the MINI for this long. Now I also see that other companies make parts, like Penzoil makes filters for MINIs.

syn. oil $20 on sale at Walmart
cabin air filter (microfilter) $26
poly v-belt $24

Total cost: $94

Also handy: Bentley service manual $65 (inc tax and shipping), ordered from Walmart

I found Kragen to be more expensive on the filters, slightly cheaper belt - not to mention several day shipping delay.
