MIchelin Wheel & Tire Maintenance Kit

Autoblog has a review of this new kit. Note that it includes a "brake dust repellent"....seems to like it.

FYI I am currently testing the brake dust repellent product, here's my thread on the subject:

http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=87431

I'm the guy that Josh Wardell mentioned in your web link, who is currently testing the product out. The only problem is, it's been raining non-stop here (Vancouver, Canada) for the past week or so, so I haven't had a test period of good weather to evaluate dry weather dust accumulation (which would give a more accurate idea of how well it works). So, in the meantime, I am advising my fellow MINIacs NOT to buy it untill I can finish my testing.

Oh, someone mentioned in your web link, that Simple Green and a coat of wax/detailing spray is just as good as reducing brake dust buildup.

Well, I use Simple Green (highly recommended) and elbow grease to clean my wheels, and I have waxed the wheels in the past - but there's a catch. Simple Green will not only strip the dirt off the wheels, but also any protective wax or coating that you wipe on the wheels, which means that you will have to reapply it everytime you use Simple Green to clean the wheels. The bottom line is, it's just as time consuming, and negates any benefit of a few extra days of not cleaning the wheels. Will the brake dust repellent be the same? Stay tuned!
