Offline | Cleaning my new black mini Last week I purchased a new black mini (none metallic). After enjoying the ease of a silver mini for the last 3 years, I knew I would have my work cut out caring for a colour that was not so easy to keep clean. I had the garage undertake the Lifeshine process ahead of taking delivery which puts a waxy shell on the car. Upon taking delivery of the car I noticed a scratch on the side of the car which the garage advised would not be a problem to remove. The job was done yesterday and whilst the scratch has gone, the area they treated now displays a lighter haze! Shall I take it back to the garage? Also the plastic bumper shows scratches which must have been on the car when I took delivery - I am just concerned that by going back to the garage, they could make this worse as well! Please advise. Regards applebed |

Offline | Hi Applebed, I would try your dealer first, the end prduct should be as good 'as new' and if you're not 100%, happy you have a right to be so. BMW Customer Services can also point you in the direction of another dealer for a 2nd opinion. As for the scratches, that's a little harder to deal with. The satisfaction note you signed when you took delivery of the car really absolves the dealership of any responsability for these. However, dealers can be nice if they want to be. Be nice! Good luck Spotty Dog |

Offline | Best advice would be to not get too over-critical on scratches with a black car. They are coming. I keep telling this to myself too. Helps somewhat. ![]() ***BMW-AG Rocks!!!*** Portsmouth FC Can Thank Sunderland...What a Farce!!! |

Offline | It's worth a shot going back to the dealer to see what they say. As for future care of a black mini (i'm on my second!!) The biggest tip for caring for a black mini is to hand wash it using the two-bucket method and a lambwool wash mitt - 2 bucket method is one bucket with wash solution and one with clean water - dip the mitt in the clean water and swirl about/wring out before dipping in the wash mix everytime - this keeps your wash mix clean and leaves any grit at the bottom of the clean water bucket - the mitt also draws the dirt into the pile intead of acting like sandpaper as it does with a sponge!! ![]() Dingdangdoo! |
