Flash Car Cleaning? I was wondering if anybody had used this and what your thoughts are? My local chemist has the system on offer for £12.99, which doesn't seem bad. I am quite new to this washing cars by hand malarky, having previously been more than happy to put my previous car through a car wash, however I will not being doing this with my MINI! But I still need all the help that I can get I would like to be able to take my time and do the car properly, but I know that sometimes I either won't have time, won't have good weather and I'll leave it mucky, or more than likely out of all of them, I will be too lazy Is this system any good in general? Or is it just ok for a quick clean, or crap altogether? Many thanks.

Whoops, Sorry! I was being crafty and logging in quick from work and so I didn't have time to search. Bad me! I got it on the way home anyway as my Dad decided that he wanted one and it worked out at just over a tenner, as I forgot that I get 10% off. So we shall see what I make of it at the weekend. Sorry again!

Its good stuff The whole system of water/shampoo/fitered water is good for a quick wash and when you want to do a proper job the filtered water part is good for that as well.Well worth the £20 i paid for the system last summer, plus a few refills, worth looking around though, saw it in Homebase the other day for £10 Havent used anything else for a quick wash that gives the same results in about 20 mins

Can't speak highly enough about it myself, the car dries to a brilliant shine with no water marks. My 06 MCS came with Supaguard on the paintwork but although it looked good I still didn't think the shine was good enough. After Flash washer I used AutoGlym super resin polish followed by their resin coat. The Flash shampoo doesn't strip it off and dries to a perfect shine. I redo it about every three months. I use a wash mitt and the black is the dirt mostly off the wheels. |

I aim to give this a bash tomorrow. For something seemingly so simple as washing a car, I still don't get the results that I would like. Here's hoping I get the car gleaming

may check this out soon, as I have to assemble both a 'full-on pamper the car' wash kit as well as maybe a 'quickie' wash kit... Do you guys actually use a second high-quality wash mitt for the wheels or one of those soft specialized wheel-brush tools? I know I'd want two different cleaning items there. laundry list of things I'll be needing when baby comes home (so far): -good car shampoo (zymol, meguires or autoglym, whatever I can get locally) -at least one good wash mitt -two different buckets for wash/rinse water -some good polish/wax (meguires, zymol, autoglym again, lots of threads here comparing) -something to apply wax (foam applicator sponges?: still researching) -a nice wheel brush, all soft surfaces, nothing hard to scratch em -some nice detailing/waffle-pattern towels for hand-drying -a Mr. Clean/flash system/kit as well for quick washes will that get me started okay? I may not have all my details yet (ha, punny!), but I am going to our local club's spring clean party in two weeks and the guys there will be showing me what they use and like...hopefully I can learn a lot. cheers MC

I still use the flash system even when doing a proper wash, I just dont use the shampoo, it still sprays water and then filtered water, helps with water marks. I just bought a megauirs wheel cleaning brush, great for getting to the back of the wheel where all the brake dust builds up, although it does tend to spray you bit with dirty water when used vigurously Get all the crap of the wheel with the brush then use a seperate cloth or sponge to wipe off any drips and make it sparkle, no need for a high quality mit You can use an applicator for the wax, some come with their own, you can also use your hands to apply it, with some of the top waxes out there thats the best way, I find it rubs into the body work better and more even with your hands Also terry towels are the best cloths for bodywork, very soft and dont shed fibres. Have a look here, they are not always the cheapest, but they have split the meguair products up based on usage, so you know the different products for the different stages of a full clean http://www.larkspeed.com/index.pl?c=MEGUIARS Ps. if any one knows where to get claybars without buying the spray at the same time, it would be very useful info
