Offline | Oil changes in dusty environment??? I've always used synthetic oils in my vehicles, but because I live on a dirt road except for late Oct to late Apr when all is covered with snow and ice I've always changed my oil and filter every 3k. Mini says the interval is closer to 10-12k, but is that based on the assumption that we all drive on pavement? Wouldn't it be safer to do it every 5k? Pete |

Offline | The regular service interval is for "normal duty", your application would fit into the severe duty application and I would not hesitate to change oil every 5K. I also would not necessarily bother to use synthetic.....watch that air filter as well, though you knew that... ![]() |
