First Polish..when ?

My HB MCS is now a week and half old. I've already washed it twice but was wondering if I need to wait some amount of time before I polish for the first time ?

I intend to use Meguiares Gold Class polish.

I've had a quick search but couldn't really find a straight answer.

Thanks

No, wax straight away. Modern paint is baked hard at the factory.

The dealer probably waxed the car before delivery anyway.

HB is a really nice colour BTW

No need to wait any specific time. I waxed mine two weeks after I had it.

Never been to a car wash and never will !

Much to the amusement of my neighbours I actually like washing my cars. It's good therapy for a stressful job!

I haven't used it yet but have bought some Meguiares Gold Class Clear Coat Liquid Wax. I've been an Autoglym man for years. I bought it through advice I'd read here. Hope it's OK

Technically yes although the terms are often (incorrectly) used interchangeably.

Polishing is an abrasive process that removes minute amounts of the finish along with (hopefully) the imperfections in the paint.

Wax is simply a layer of protectant applied over the top of the paint.

Good way to start a flame war here. The best wax is the one that makes your MINI look the way you want it to look.

Ultimately the preparation is more critical to the final appearance than is the particular type of wax used. Many people like Meguiars products, others prefer Zaino. There are also excellent products by Poorboy's World, Menzerna, Einszett, AutoGlym, Klasse and many others. You can spend hours and hours reading detailing forums and come away with as many questions as answers. At least I do...

Good luck with your search for the ultimate wax.

I waxed my MINI the first time one month after getting him.
I use P21S
Carnauba Was; I really like it. I did a TON of research before deciding and this was what was best for my particular situation (I chose to go with wax and not polish).
I also like the products available at Griot's Garage
