Removing fine scratches

What's the best product to use for removing fine scratches to bodywork? Tried AutoGlym polish but that didn't really help.

What kind of scratches?

Can you catch your nail in them? If you can you probably can't get rid of them completely.

You could try a product like Meguiars Scratch-X. Make sure you use a scrupulously clean soft towel or applicator pad.

I'm with KenL on this,Meguiars scratch x and they flog it in Halfords now,i have a PW MINI now but when i had my Black MINI i wouldn't have been without it.Every time my MINI went in for warranty work they would stick it through their car wash and it would come back with fine scratches/swirl marks(when i remembered i told them to hand wash it) the scratch x got rid of them

AutoGlym paint renovator should do it (basically a cutting polish), go easy though - follow that by a re-application of the super resin polish, and the high gloss finish if you have it.

Or you could try a clay bar with the correct lubricant, everyone who's used one gives them rave reviews.

Haven't done the scratch x

but have had good luck with the Gold Class wax etc that I've used so far. The clay bar will help clean the area very well before using the scratch x but I don't believe with will take it out. Let me know if you do use the scratch x because I'm thinking about using it on the wife's SUV

I had some prick in a Ford Focus reverse into my rear bumper and then kindly did a runner leaving a nasty scuff mark today!

I thought I'd never get rid of the marks. I tried t-cut but that made the marks stand out even more!

Ater reading this thread i rushed down to Halfords and bought some Meguiars Scratch X. I've gotta say that stuff is a miracle worker!!! I applied it once and it was very hard to notice the marks. I'll give the car a good wash tomorrow and apply some more which with any luck will remove the remaining marks.

Thanks guys!

Trouble is now you'll be looking at what else Meguiars can do for your pride and joy,...have you tried the clay bar yet.......its like 'newness' in a bar'
