I don't know whether you've sorted anything or not tyre-wise. I've just replaced my OEM alloys on a Cooper S (204/45/17) with some after-markets with non-run-flats and have 3 Bridgestone Potenza RE050a - two with 6mm or so tread (I'll measure for you properly) and one with a bit less.
They came off my car last November when I went to my winter tyres and now I've got new alloys, I won't be putting them back on. As far as I know, they are absolutely decent with nothing wrong with them, but they are surplus to requirements for me. You can have all three for £150.
The fourth has the least tread and is the least saleable and I'm keeping it as a spare with one of my old alloys, in case you were wondering!
I'm in Cheshire south-Cheshire, so it might be a bit of a pedal for you, but you can see them in the flesh before you make your mind up and save yourself a bundle. Let me know.
In the long-run though, I would recommend switching over to non run-flats.
