MINI2

Last year, I led a MINI run that included a ride on the Jamestown ferry, a scenic drive down Colonial Parkway, and through some twisties in the VA hinterlands. Only four cars were on that run, but then, not a lot of people had their MINIs yet either.

So, if I did a few minor changes, would anyone be interested in doing that run in the spring?

Hi! I'm not very familiar with the route you described but I think I'm reasonably close (Raleigh area...just moved to these parts from Texas). My wife and I have been discussing making a trip to Jamestown and Williamsburg so maybe this would work into our plans. Could you give me a few more details on the route?

I was thinking Saturday, about mid March, with an alternate date in case of foul weather. The ferry ride is unpleasant if the water is choppy.

Mugami, you are welcome in any vehicle. I may invite my neighbor with her Cabrio, if it wouldn't scandalize everyone too much!

Looking on the map, this is all in and around Colonial Williamsburg. Here's a link to area features, including hotels. I'm sorry not to be able to offer a discount over what is offered for off season.

For general route, I was going to steal the best parts of both the runs I planned last year. We would meet at Starbucks, take a short drive to the ferry, ride it westbound, stop at Surrey House for lunch, drive through some mild twisties in the VA backwoods, ride the ferry eastbound, then last drive the length of Colonial Parkway. Finish up with a dinner somewhere.

Yes, the weather will be the biggest problem. March is the season for nor'easters!

I'm going to stick with the Ides then. My main reason is to not have this run too close to the Dragon Run.

I'm adding the date to the title, and it will be rain, snow, sleet or shine!

The only thing that could cancel this run is if the fuzzy one and I have obligations overseas...but even then, I can email the directions to someone else to lead the run!
