Drive-In Movie Meet

Drive-In Movie Meet

K guys here's the deal, I would like to propose a meet/gathering on the 16th of May, a Friday night. This meet would not so much be a normal meet with a drive planned and all that good stuff because, well, it's not necessary. This will work like an impromptu meet, just to get together and talk and say hi. The best part of the MINI meets is getting together and actually meeting and talking with other owners. Hopefully this can take advantage of/exploit this. So here's the way it works:

On Friday everyone meets at a Drive-In theatre.

The little things you need to know are, it's at the biggest one in the area that I know of and it's called The Bengies (http://www.bengies.com). It has the largest screen on the east coast apparently, they have decent food, it has a nice friendly atmosphere, and you can watch a movie sitting in your MINI (or put a lawn chair out in front of your MINI). The movie theatre is near Baltimore which at first I thought would be a big problem for a Friday night but..for one thing the movies don't start til dusk (around 8pm now), secondly "Friday at the movies" sounds better, thirdly the movies run late in to the night (don't worry about being "on-time", this is a relax after work, impromptu meet, show up when you can), and lastly I'm sure we've got some people in MD that are tired of driving to Virgina. Personally I'm treking from northern Virgina to this place, if people want to join up to make the drive there, that's fine, but if not, that's good too.

The cost of admission is $7 bucks a person, and definitely don't bring any of your own food. It's a big no-no at a drive-in as they have a hard time making money, so let's help this old place and just buy their hot dogs, fries, soda and candy. Let me know if you're interested...Click HERE for directions.

And the other thing that works to turn off your DRL is to click your handbrake up one notch.

This may be the best answer. You can't exactly turn off the car and still be able to drive around in the place Russ... Duh!!

Everyone should read his house rules carefully - here is the rule on lights:

"You MUST be in control of your Vehicle lights. If you cannot extinguish the light, you must cover it, and not remove cover until you are at the exit gate. (We recommend that you bring some brown paper or newspaper and masking tape and carefully covering your lights before entering - please remember to remove the covering before you exit the theatre making sure that you are facing away from the giant screen when you are doing so). There may also be instructions on turning off your daytime running lights in your car's operating manual."

Also, it says no playing on the playground after the movie begins.... AW...RP...???

Russ this is going to be sooo much fun, first bc we're a bunch of MINI nuts, second (for me)never been to a drive-in...isn't thta some sort of crime?

(This means MP has to keep quiet and not bother others for almost 2 hours!)

I can do it, promise

drive-ins are great. from what i understand this guy shows movies all night long...and some of them are old one's from the 50s and old movie trailers..it should be really neat. i havent been to one for a few years, and that was back in california. maybe it's more fun on the east coast? :-)

for those who haven't yet...watch this...it's windows media player format.

You've got a baby on the way too? Abi (my wife) is due in late July. I've got all that to look forward too!

Not nervous at all!

(Sorry for going off topic, it's a first time father to be thing I guess?!)

Congrats Paul and Abi!

Paul, I expect to see at least as many photos of this Mullett production as I've seen of your MINIs.
