I was wondering if anyone was near the Baltimore or Towson area. Up for a regular friday night coffee get together?

Parkville close enough? I organized the first "event" in the Baltimore area, a circumnavigation of 695 last August. It was quite a site since there very very few MINIs around then. We had about 14 MINIs. We'll do it again this August. Friday nights? Nah...too married, family oriented, etc.

I go past Towson every morning/afternoon on my way to/from my teaching job in Owings Mills. The other day I was one of three MINIs abreast going West. Last Friday, I saw two other electric blue MINIs (plus mine) within a minute. I guess part of that is being so close to a dealership.

As to dealerships, are you as disappointed in Towson as I have been?

I've been everywhere but the electric chair...I've seen everything but the wind.

Never been to the Towson dealership but I guess I'll have to get used to them since they are all that's around. I am from Richmond, VA but and moving to Baltimore. During the week I'm in Baltimore and weekends in Richmond for now.

I live just north of Baltimore in Timonium. I put my order in for a BRG/W MCS last month with MINI Towson. According to Ben the salesman it will go forward to the UK at the end of this month with delivery about September - I can't make the time go quick enough although I do have my miata to keep me occupied in the mean time. I made up my mind about most of the extras that I want but can't really decide between leatherette or cloth for the seats. Any opinions?

Towson is my dealer, at least until Otto's in West Chester PS opens up. I live in N. Delaware, about 60 miles from Towson. I've been on a number of event with Baltimore area MINI owners though it seems that more stuff goes on in the DC area.

As for cloth vs. leatherette, I think they both look nice. I have leatherette and can vouch for it's resistance to spills and cleanability. Also most people think it's leather unless you tell them otherwise. I guess you just have to decide which you prefer because I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Grimfool: I'd go with the leatherette. It's very nice and I'm sure much easier to care for than the cloth. Good choice on the colors too, I picked up my BRG/White MCS in February.

As for the coffee, I'll be moving to the Baltimore/DC this summer, so I'm definitely interested in any events you all post to the forums.

Jason

Thanks Jason, I'm back to 50/50 now. Still I have until the end of the month (I think) to make up my mind. how long did it take you you to get your MCS?

I ordered mine in Oct 02 and held out for Jan 03 (first week) production so I could get the H/K upgrade. I took delivery in Germany mid-Feb.

Now that's a thing - should I go for the cold weather package? The heated seats I only see as a benefit if you've got leather and I'm still inclined towards cloth

I think the leatherette looks much better than the cloth IMHO. I never thought heated seats were worth it either until a couple of years ago when I picked up a '87 BMW 320i with leather. Not only were the seats nice, but I found the heater mirrors a big plus too. It was enough to convince me to pay for the option on the Mini.
