Offline | Historic Races at Virginia Intl Raceway, June 7 There will be a Mini club trip from Richmond, Virginia to Virginia International Raceway, near Danville, for the Gold Cup Historic Car Races and car show on Saturday, June 7, 2003. There will be 8 races that day, featuring everything from Minis to formula cars, Corvettes and Ferraris, on the 3.27 mile road course. The Gold Cup car show will be held at the same time. The course is beautiful, and it should be an exciting and relaxing day. Bring your folding chairs and picnic lunches. We will leave from the Richmond area about 7:30 AM, stop at my house in Crewe, about 60 miles away, for buffet breakfast, and continue to VIR, arriving before noon for the car show and the races, that begin at about 1 PM and go until after 5 PM. Please RSVP so we will know how many people to expect and will prepare enough breakfast for everyone. I will forward further information, including a race schedule, upon receipt of your RSVP. Check out the website www.virclub.com to view photos of the track and information about the races. This event is open to anyone from Virginia or anywhere else who wants to come. Feel free to join us there is you wish to travel separately. John Summerville 804-560-0686 804-330-2150 (w) |

Offline | I believe the Mini group from Flow Mini is going to this event. They are planning on meeting us there. Don't know if you are going with them or by yourself, but I believe they also have a breakfast planned. They will probably have many more Minis than we do. John |

| MINI2 Regular | Just got some free tickets for this event, so I'll be meeting you all at VIR (coming from the west). As far as the Flow MINI group, I haven't heard anything about them. They did have a rally last weekend that ended at VIR for some races, so perhaps that is causing some confusion... ![]() '03 Cooper PS/B with sport, premium packages, xenons, CVT, red leather interior |

Offline | VIR trip June 7 (Saturday) Hope we still have some attendees for this event. Should be nice - possible rain, but more like occasional showers rather than continuous rain of last Saturday. The track is about 2.5 hours from Richmond, but it is a straight shot at 60 mph down 360. I guess that might be 3.5 hours or so from Norfolk area. Meeting spot in the Barnes and Noble parking lot in south Richmond, across from Chesterfield Towne Center. If coming from out of town, take the Powhite Expressway across the river, through the toll booth, third exit is route 60 (Midlothian Turnpike). Take that west a couple miles to Chesterfield Towne Center at the corner of Courthouse/Huguenot Road (Courthouse to the left, Huguenot to the right). Turn right at the light, one block to the Barnes and Noble, across from Hooters. 7:30 AM Saturday, June 7, just to be clear. I will distribute maps, schedules, etc. at that point. Send a note or call me at 804-560-0686 if you haven't already confirmed in case you are late, so we won't leave without you. I will be there either with an electric blue Mini S, or a silver Maserati Bora if the wife takes the Mini separately. Be sure to order your tickets early at www.virclub.com to save $5 (only $15 per person that way). Should have a nice breakfast prepared about an hour away, directly on the way. See you there. I've got room at my house in Crewe for two couples if you are coming from far away and need someplace to stay on Saturday night on the way back. The house is undergoing renovation and I hope you don't mind scaffolding (on the outside only). Send a message if you need any more information. John |

| MINI2 Regular | I'm still planning on meeting you all at VIR. John, do you have an ETA for getting to the racetrack? I don't really have a schedule of events and am not sure what time things will get started there... '03 Cooper PS/B with sport, premium packages, xenons, CVT, red leather interior |

Offline | Weather.com says 30% chance of rain, so I'll take those odds. See you all there -- Dad will be riding with me, and I might have a couple of friends come along in a 5-series. I don't know if we can get group parking, but how about we meet at the picnic barn (just up the hill from the south paddock) at 11am-ish? Or is that too early? Offline | Oh, don't forget to buy your tickets for the lunch-time track tour before 11 -- they're $25, and go towards the Children's Miracle Network charity. I've done this before, and it's pretty easy - speeds of about 85-90mph on the straights, slower through the curves (much slower around the oak tree!). You're behind a pace car, and there's no passing, so it's very safe (and lots of fun!). Chip H. ex-MINI Cooper S owner and all around good-guy |
