I'm keeping a close eye on the weather reports Scott. Right now, Weatherbug is predicting rain mixed with ice for the drive, and that won't stop us. However, if there is a snow accumulation predicted, then we may not make it.

I was looking at the weather around York PA and they have a Winter Storm Watch in effect, with snow forecast for Friday and Saturday, possible accumulations up to 6". We're planning on driving up there tomorrow afternoon, but may cancel those plans.

Hope everything goes OK for the Holiday Extravaganza!

Good Evening Everyone,

First, AprilWhine, MoonPies and/or MINIMiller, please send me a PM with your mobile numbers! Weather or not, I'll motor with you if you come North, but see what we are discussing amongst the rest of the group below.

It's Thursday evening, and our friends down South are starting to get some of the snow, albeit in smaller doses.

Well, I told you there was a conspiracy between the Networks and the American Dairy Association to cause agita amongst the MINI-acs!!!

OK, as of tonight, there are two VERY different forecasts for the West Chester area.

NBC10 (with Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz) stated on tonight's evening news that Philadelphia and the Western suburbs (which includes West Chester) could get between 2" to 10"s of snow!

AccuWeather, the ABC affiliate, has 2"s forecasted for Friday, then 2"s forecasted for Saturday.

So, the Elves have been talking, and we have the following options being reviewed, in priority order:

1) Continue with everything as planned for Saturday, 6 December.
2) See if we can re-schedule the group tour for Saturday, 20 December and keep everything scheduled exactly as is, for those that can make the new date (and, possibly get some other people who couldn't make the original date)
3) See if we can re-schedule for Sunday, 7 December. Do everything on the tour except the contest/pollyanna at Ottos (their closed on Sundays).
4) Cancel all together.

I know we're keeping people's schedules up in the air right now, but it's very hard to get EVERYONE to make it on another date, yet we want to ensure everyone's safe and secure.

We will post out to the group by 5:00PM tomorrow (Friday) what we decide to do with Deck The MINIs for Saturday.

Just hear those sleigh bells jingling, ring-ting tingling too. Come on, it's lovely weather for a MINI ride together with you!!!

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful, and since we've no MINIs to drive, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!!

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the one's I used to know. Where the treetops glisten, and children listen, to hear MINI horns through the snow!!!!

Dashing through the snow in a 163-horse open MINI Cooper S, o'er the fields we go, laughing all the way!!!

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way. O what fun it is to ride in a 115-horse MINI Cooper, hey!!!

Enough frivolity for the evening!!!

Festive spirits to all, and to all, a good night!

Scott

Just PMed you both our celly's...

As far as I know we're heading up later today too...there is about 4 inches of snow outside...and the current conditions on the Washingtonpost.com site says we have rain...I don't see any mixed with sleet, maybe that's yet to come

Winterize your cars people, blankets, flashlights, kitty litter, stay warm!!!

This will be the MINI's first time drwiving in challenging weather conditions, well 'cept for cwazy boats of rain!

okay now I'm somewehere between iffy and maybe, but J says we're going.

It looks like the second blast of white will hit after midnight in our area, so we should be okay driving up. However, we need to figure out what the weather along the way is doing while we drive.

Just a I suspected, J said on the way to work, he drove the MINI which performed fine, he wtitnessed and SUV outta controll, the person behind the wheel didn't know how to handle it and had people helping him push it along

SUVs get really cocky in the snow...

We got a few inches in Delaware, roads are clear and rain is on the way. Hope the event will go on. RIght now they are calling for snow and wind all day saturday.

We havent gotten our snow tyres yet so I am hoping they will at least keep the roads clear.

Dear All,

MoonPie, I already spoke with John this AM, and am awaiting a call from AprilWhine.

OK, the elves have been talking incessantly last night, and this
morning, and we've made some executive decisions.

Note, THIS IS THE 5:00PM UPDATE!!!

As a coordinated, sanctioned PhillyMINI Event, we cannot ask people
to come out in this weather, and ride all those lovely back roads of
Chester County.

So, the "official" Deck the MINIs Rally has been postponed to
Saturday, 20 December. All aspects of the Rally for that date will
remain the same.

9:30AM meet
10:30AM Yuletide at Winterthur House Tour
2:00PM Simon Pearce Art Glass Studio
4:00PM Otto's MINI Contest & Pollyanna
6:30PM Christmas at Longwood Gardens

"Un-Officially", there are some MINI-acs that still want to go to
Winterthur and Longwood tomorrow, no matter what the weather. As
the roads between the two locations are Snow Emergency routes, some
people, on their own, will be arriving at Winterthur at 12:00PM,
touring the house, Motoring directly to Ottos to say hello, then
Motoring directly to Longwood (no back roads!).

Winterthur and Longwood will honor your tickets on either date, or
they will refund our money if you cannot make either date.

There is the chance that those "unofficial" MINI-acs may find
Winterthur closed tomorrow.

So, I think I have this correct, but this is what I will need from
all of you:

1) If you are "un-officially" still going to Winterthur tomorrow and
just happen to be there by 12:00PM, please send me an email with
your cell phone/home phone numbers so I may call you in the morning
if Winterthur calls me saying they are closing for the day. I HAVE
to know if you are doing this, as I have the payments.

2) If you are "officially" able to make the newly scheduled date of
20 December, please send me an email advising to hold-on to your
payment, and credit it towards the tickets for the new date.

3) If you were unable to make this Saturday, but can NOW make the
new date, we can now take additional MINIs (Winterthur has MORE
space on the new date), so let me know you want to come.

4) If you are unable to make the new date of 20 December, and want
your money refunded, send me an email with that request, and please
provide me your mailing address, and the name to which I should make
the check payable. For credits from Winterthur/Longwood, I will not
obtain that credit until 20 December, so refunds will be mailed out
after that date.

5) If you want to now do the "un-official" and the "official"
meeting dates, an additional payment for the 20th will be required.

Am I confusing, or making this easily understandable??

I will need emails from EVERYONE by Wednesday, 10 December to gauge
what I need to do with the reservations and the payments.

If you have any questions, DO NOT hesitate to PM me or send me a private email to laughscott@aol.com!

Safe Motoring!!

Scott

Agreed!!! What fun. Thanks for coming down Scott and thank you RP and Ace for riding along. Since MP and I can't make it up for the new date we were glad to have Scott lead us around. We even ventured onto a few of the lovely snow covered twisties.

MP is preparing pics now.

Oh that looks like so much fun! I wish I could go on the 20th - but once again the RI Toys Run coincides.

I LOVE RP's NEW HAIR-DO! And those red eyes just make the outfit!

After our tour of Winterthur we headed out for coffee at BrewHAhhahahAHAHA and I received a new name... (warning do not go into non-Starbuck establishments and order a 'Grande' anything )

After gassing up with caffeine and lunch we motored to the glass blowers place, I don't have any pics, but it was truly a wonderful craft to behold. (they let me blow some glass ) Sorry, no pics

THEN in the freeezing cold we were whisked over to Longwood, if you love lights, love gardens, plants, etc., then you will be in lightsgardenplantstreeheaven!
