Mini of Sterling Freebies and Services

Now I know normally you would put this in the dealership feedback section, but I already have and only received a few responses and can't find anything about this when I search.

Mini of Sterling claims to have sold the 3rd most minis in the US so there's got to be more out there with comments on Sterling. I think most people who already have minis don't look in the dealership feedback section so I have posted here.

Has anyone received any freebies from Mini of Sterling....or discounts on merchandise or services when you got your mini? Has anyone had services done there lately and recommends them or does not recommend them for certain services?

Thanks in advance!

Got a free hat when I picked up the car.

Haven't been back since.

I am due for my oil change service now.

Have had some issues with them not being able to find information about parts (front fog light retrofit) and some resistance to doing what I want to do. It also took four phone calls to initially get a response back.

That said, they keep moving forward with my request and I have not actually been in to have the service done yet. Should be sometime this month.

I had my MINI serviced 4 times at MINI of Sterling. Service has been fine. Once, however, my car was finished and waiting for me in front of the dealership. (I could see it from the waiting area by the stereo/tv lounge.) I sat there for 10 minutes waiting for someone to bring me my key and the invoice. I ended up having to ask someone for my key. Apparently the person taking care of me wasn't around and had forgotten about me. Typically, I'd expect someone to come to me and tell me my car's ready, or make some sort of announcement.

And once I had to leave my car there to get the "brain" updated. They had to ship my computer or something to New Jersey and it took them longer than expected. It was only supposed to take 3 days but ended up taking 7.

Our sales experience last year at Sterling was fantastic. However John who was our MA has since left the dealership and Crystal who took care of us when John was off, has since been promoted (and I think she deserved it too!)

I have heard that some of the MA staff currently at Sterling haven't been so stellar however. As I understand it though the worst was transferred back to the BMW side. I've found Keith to be very knowledgable as he's been there for well over a year and he also spent some time on the service side as well... Although if you have any problems I would suggest talking to BIll (the MINI Manager), or Crystal (former MINI Manager and now GM).

Free stuff... we talked them into giving us one of the stuffed MINIs when we got the car (twisted their rubber arm as it were), and were also given a $25 gift certificate for MINI/BMW merchandise which we still haven't used... I believe last time the car was there they gave us a 25% off coupon for merchandise as well.

As for service. Gene Chun is the MINI service writer. He's a nice guy, and very knowledgeable. HOWEVER, you have to stay on top of him. I think his biggest problem is that he doesn't always return phonecalls, compounded by the fact that you will usually get his voicemail when you call. We've already had a discussion with the service manager about this and things seem to have gotten a little better. Although that was before Jen had her problem...

I would LOVE one of the stuffed minis.....I'll have to bring brownies when I pick up my mini.
