Cooper Vineyards Convergence- July 24, 2004- Signup deadline July 17

Hellooo all!

I was surfing about yesterday and ran accross this fine vineyard, located in Louisa, VA between Charlottesville and Richmond. I wanted to gauge everyone's interest in maybe meeting up there, say, on a Saturday or Sunday in July for wine tasting and a picnic. It only seems appropriate to go in MINIs, ya know? Maybe we could also swing a tour of some local roads... I don't know much about that area, but might be able to scout some things out between now and then.

We'll meet at the Vineyard at 11:30 for tour and tasting, with a catered lunch to arrive between 12 and 12:30. Please vote for what menu you'd like for lunch on this post. Cost of lunch will be $15.50.

Nothing on my calender for July at the moment. I'll be there.

THere are several vinyards in that area around charottesville. I dont believe I have been to that particular one, but after you have been driving on some of those backroads for a couple hours, sampling the local grape, you have a tendancy to lose track of things.

The are a couple right off of 29, and some buried just south of UVA.

I would vote for it................although, i suppose I would have to go dry due to the length of the drive......but I wouldnt mind adding to my cellar.

Yeah, I know there are several in the area, but wasn't sure it was a good idea to combine motoring with too much wine sampling... This particular winery just seemed too apropos to pass up! I thought if we sampled first, and picnic'ed after, we could all get dried out for the ride home.

I'd come if the day fitted my schedule. Weekends are hectic right now -- Louisa is a stones throw from me. Our son would also probably come with his Cooper S (Ddraig). It would have to be a "dry" trip for us also, but the picnic part sounds good!

We're putting together our summer vacation schedule right now and it is looking like we'll be heading to New England over the weekends of July 10 and 17. We'll be around the weekends of July 3, 24 and 31; however we have a thing already scheduled for July 31 (Saturday), but August 1 (Sunday) is open.

Thoughts?

Alright, let's settle on July 24 then for this event. I've got a little Vespa thing to do on the 3rd... I'm hoping to put together a drive from the Stuart's Draft/Waynesboro area for the morning for anyone who cares to join in. I'll also get a firm time for the meetup at the vineyard for anyone just wanting to meet there.
