DCMM Annual After Holiday Party - January 22

Sleigh Bells Ring, Are you Listening???

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, Santa has come and gone. Hopefully he left you a little something under your tree. Do you like it? Would you rather it go to one of your favorite MINI friends? Yes, you guessed it. It is that time again.

It is time for the Annual AFTER Holidays Party.

Last year, despite the cramped quarters, we had a blast. This year, I've found a bigger locale.

Details:
When: January 22, 2005
Time: 5pm until later
Where: Anchorage Club at the Coast Guard Telecommunications and Information Systems Command located at 7323 Telegraph Road in Alexandria VA

What to Bring:
A Dish to Share (please RSVP with your dish, so we don't wind up with 50 green bean casseroles. Keep in mind, this is a potluck, so when I say bring to share -- I mean bring enough to share with about 10 people. Bring the serving tools needed; plates and forks and such will be there, though)
A gift to "re-gift" in the Yankee Gift Exchange (if you liked all your gifts, please bring one valued at less than $20. In order to participate you need to have a gift)
A few bucks for beverages (we cannot bring our own, but a full bar will be available, prices range from a buck for a soda to a few bucks for top shelf mixed drinks)
Your photo ID (you will not be allowed to get on the base without it -- plus the barkeep just might card you . Also, note: photo ID is required for the driver and EVERYONE over the age of 18)
Your sense of humor and desire for a good time

Is there a fee for all this fun???
Yes, I'm sorry, but we have to pay for the club (we are renting it out for the night) and the barkeep. It is $10 per person. This is a Members ONLY event. If you are not a member, Join the club; then join us.

The fee is payable via paypal with Jen (she's taking the RSVPs), so please RSVP to her at events@dcmetrominis.org

Other important information...

The party is being held on a military base, so as mentioned above please make sure that everybody in your car over 18 has a photo ID with them.

If you do not have a DOD or USCG decal on your vehicle you will be stopped at the gate. Just tell the gate guard that you are headed to The Anchorage Club for an event. They may take some information down about your vehicle and give you a visitors pass.

If it's after dark when you arrive, please switch off your headlights and use your parking lights as you approach the gate. Otherwise your headlights blind the gate guard.

Depending on the security posture of the base on the day of the event your vehicle may be searched before being allowed on the base. This is nothing to be concerned about and is typically nothing more than what you might undergo when trying to park at the Ronald Reagan Building downtown. Just be polite and follow the instructions of the gate guard and things should go quickly and smoothly.

PLEASE do not go exploring on the base! Trust me, I worked there for four and a half years, there's nothing interesting there!

Directions to the club once you get on base:

After passing through the gate, go straight down the road and make the fourth left. The first left will be just a few feet from the gate, the second will be into a parking lot, and the third will be a driveway.

After you make the left, just find a parking spot, The Anchorage Club is the building on the left (you really can't miss it).

If those directions don't make any sense, you can ask the gate guard, and they will point you in the right direction

Can't wait to see you all there,
PB

United-States How long to receive shirt and membership confirmation?

I mailed my check about a month ago to DCMM. Was wondering how long before I receive my shirt and membership confirmation? Thanks.

Hello

We are working very hard to speed up this process. It generally takes about 6-8 weeks. However, from the time the "check is in the mail" we consider you a member in good standing. Just this past weekend during our Tech Day we talked again about ideas to speed the process and made a few changes. So bear with us!

Will you be coming to the party?

Unfortunately I am committed on the 22nd. Hope to make an event this Spring when the weather is nice and I can put the top down.

Greetings! Just bought my 05 MCS 12/31/04 from Mini of St Louis while on vacation, but live here in Fairfax, VA and looking to possibly join your social club. Can you send info to stodios@cox.net ? I'm retired military working for the gov.

Would love to attend the event on 22 Jan, but will be at Allentown, PA w/ my son for a gymnastics meet. What time is the event?

Thanx!

What a fun thing to do, buy the MINI and drive it home!

You can find Club information and how to sign up at www.dcmetrominis.org. But, most of the action happens here: http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...splay.php?f=85
on our North American Motoring forum.

This thread:

http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...ad.php?t=35194

gives all the information on the Holiday party to date.

It is members only, but if you click "yes" on the website by Saturday night you will be considered a member and can come on out if your schedule allows.

Weather concerns

Please jump over this morning and check the thread on NAM. There is a chance we might have to postpone the party due to the snow forecast for this weekend. I don't know if I will get time to update this thread on Saturday if we do cancel - so please check the postings over there.

Thanks - and pray for NO SNOW

From BabsWife - Postponment of Party

Ok, I still haven't heard about the cancel policy of the club -- but we will get that sorted out. SO, let's PLAN on Postponing -- Means Don't show up tomorrow night!!!

Dates???

I'm thinking 1/29/05 (so we can also celebrate Michael's and My 5th Anniversary) BUT let's get a poll going on the date to reschedule:

1/29/2005 (My anniversary too)
2/5/2005
2/12/2005 (the Saturday before Valentine's Day)

Ok, Now we really need about 30 people to come to pay for the space so, date with the most people wins. If you can make all three, let me know.

Hugs,
PB

New Date!

We have a new date for the party - Saturday, February 5th. All other details are still the same - time, place, what to bring, etc.

If you RSVP'd and you now cannot make it, please e mail me at events@dcmetrominis.org so I can refund the fee.

Thanks, hope to see you there.

Jen
