All,
I will hosting a MINI run in the mountains of Virginia at the end of November (11th - 13th). The run will be called the Devil's Backbone Run. It will be an all weekend run and will range from Marion to Front Royal and will tackle Virginia's finest twisties in a day long grueling run. All are welcome to attend. I have assembled a group of google map screenshots available:

So you can get an idea for the type of roads by using google maps yourself to zoom in on the roads.

The plan is to arrive in Marion friday night. There is only one hotel in this little town - and the room rate is $49.95 a night (I already called, and they said they might have a group rate available). Then Saturday to make the run all the way up Virginia and stop in Front Royal for the night and to travel back home on Sunday.

I am still taking ideas and suggestions and would love to see a great turnout - I'm still looking for points of interest to potty/food stop at.

This should be a wonderful precursor to Blackbeard's Bounty. (Do I sense a pirate theme this summer for runs??

Even if its just me. Sorry for being quiet lately... work is kicking my ass! I will probably be driving out there next weekend to double check my driving plans as so I don't completely do this unplanned and just show up. :-D

I don't think a lot of people are coming unless i'm proved wrong. I hope to see people there!

* Saturday Nov 12th:

8AM meet at the Econo Lodge / Best Western. (they are basically the same parking lot)

8:15AM to 11:30ish - 1st leg of the drive with the majority of the twisties then a stop for lunch in Christiansburg. There are plenty of beautiful photo ops along the way - bringing a camera is recommended (hopefully there is still a lot of foliage!!)

LUNCH @ The Farm House Restaurant (lots to choose from, highly recommended)

1:30PM to 5:30PM - Drive back to I64 @ Waynesboro via the Blue ridge parkway - 2nd leg of the trip, definitely less intense, but still alot of back roads driving.

This will be the end of the trip @ Waynesboro. After seeing the sun go down a lot quicker, and still needing to drive about 3 hours home, it'd be best to get off the side roads and back to the main interstate before it gets too dark.

The Internet rate for the Best Western is only $53! And that includes a light breakfast and DSL. That is where Fuzzy and I are staying.

I'm not sure what time we'll be leaving. As you know, Friday is a holiday.

We're going to sleep in then take a leisurely drive to the hotel. Mapquest says it's about six hours from here.
