Offline | Hi Romhog, Have been reading your back and forth about MAG in one of the other forums. Interesting. Also, congrats on getting the car yesterday - I am getting mine tomorrow from Cinci. Anyhow, FYI there is a OH/KY/IN group that is formed - www.miniOKI.com which then links to a Yahoo group. I am hoping that they do something in the spring. I know the rest of the world doesn't care, but how much fun has it been watching OSU this season? I'd like to find a huge Buckeye magnet (like the ones for the helmets) that I can put on the door of my MCS next fall ![]() Aaron My friends are sick of hearing about my MCS Chili Red, White roof and mirrors, lots of goodies |

| Jedi Master | I am toying around with the idea of a dozen or so meets this year, but due to things catching up with me this past weekend, I didn't get a chance to post the dieas. Most center around Ohio's 200 anniversary of statehood, but a trip to the Indiannapolis race track (on the track!), isn't being ruled out. I'll try to get caught up and post more details soon. The web site is slowly progressing. Mini Yoda IB/IB Cooper, Black Leather, every option except CVT, (plus bonnet stripes, rally lights, aero rear spoiler and floor mats). |

| Jedi Master | I'm personally waiting for the spring thaw, but I'm never going to turn down the suggestions of other owners (hint hint) Mini Yoda IB/IB Cooper, Black Leather, every option except CVT, (plus bonnet stripes, rally lights, aero rear spoiler and floor mats). |

| Jedi Master | Okay....okay.....if you insist Last year, a very nice person on this board (who I still owe a cold one), posted a message that he bought 4 tickets to the Formula 1 race in Indy. By doing so, he obtained a pass to drive one vehicle on the F1 track, which is much of the inner part of the speedway, and half of the oval. He didn't have his Mini yet, so he offered the pass to the first person who wanted it and could show him a picture of their car. Pics of Baby Blue were just a few days old, but I sent it to him anyways, and within a few weeks, the pass was mine. The pass was good for one trip around the F1 track at no more than 20 mph, but it was still WAY COOL to know that Baby drove over the bricks at the start/finish line. I got there early, even though I could not go on the track until after 1pm, and had a good time at the museum. I also found out that many Car Clubs had the morning shift. I know there was a BMW CCA, Porsche CCA and Audi CCA, among 5-6 others. *IF* we can get organized (ie, me get my lazy hinny in gear), I can petition my contact at the Speedway to see if they will allow an un-official MiniCCA to have their trip on the track for this year's open house. There is an official MINICCA, but they don't seem to want to contact me beyond "Do you want to be a regional VP of MINICCA", so it'll have to be a regional effort. I'm thinking that if MINIOKI combines with clubs in Illinois, Missouri, Michigan, and perhaps others, we can get a large force of Cooper owners to have this request granted. Just a thought adoY iniM IB/IB Cooper, Black Leather, every option except CVT, (plus bonnet stripes, rally lights, aero rear spoiler and floor mats). |

Offline | Cool, I'm in . I hope they lets us go on the track. If not we can still try to get on the Mid-Ohio track before the vintage Mini races(all clubs welcome I think).-Andrew |

| Jedi Master | So why don't you organize one. It would be a drive, but I'd like to visit Cumberland Falls sometime. Those roads would be fun in a mini IB/IB Cooper, Black Leather, every option except CVT, (plus bonnet stripes, rally lights, aero rear spoiler and floor mats). |

| My mini is my casket | I contacted Mid-Ohio yesterday via email. (to the school) and have not heard anything back about it. If you know another way, please let us know. I have a good feeling about Mid - Ohio working out.... here is what I said to them (and some of it is buttered up yes... i know) " Hi, I am part of the new (BMW) Mini Cooper group called MiniOKI (www.minioki.com). We are in the process of creating our plans for summer 2003 and had a few questions. I was very interested in look at your driving school personally and also though it would be a good place to have our Tri-State's big summer event for the Mini Club. Come out and see the track, make a whole day out of it. We are looking to draw quite a crowd for some meets this year and think it would be good PR for Mid Ohio, and the tri-State. The president of the club got a chance to visit Indy and take his out last yea just before the Formula-1 race. This gave us an IDEA! Could we get special rates to bring our Mini's out on the track for a few "time trial laps", or special classes for doing such a thing. If this is something new you would be interested in offering, or have done it in the past, we are very interested. Just let me know the cost and general openings you might have. If there is nothing you can offer though the School, but know of someone you can point me to in charge of track schedules, etc.. I would appreciate it! Thanks for your time! " |

Offline | I was refering to just a slow lap around the track. two days in the summer, they hold vintage races for cars like old camaros, porsches, and of course minis(different classes obviously). Each of these races are proceded by clubs of the car in the race going around on the track. I'm sure they wuld be enthusiastic to let us come. In terms of letting us race, we could do it, but it would cost some major money for insurance and track time. And I won't be able to race until I turn 18 in May(so i can be considered a responsible adult). But i think bmwcca gets lower rates and word is they are letting mini's in for now. What about nelson's ledges that place is nice too. -Andrew |

| My mini is my casket | Ok get this kids! This is what Mid Ohio said to me today in an email about the school and even RENTING THE TRACK FOR A WHOLE DAY! Get your wallets out!!!! "We would definitely be able to entertain your MiniOKI group through The Mid-Ohio School. Our high performance curriculum can entertain any street legal car set up. It involves the downshift/braking drill, autocross drill and competition, slalom drill, our skid car drill. Following the drills and autocross competition, each student laps Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, with instructors leading the groups, for 45 minutes to one hour. The instructors make a memorable learning experience and everyone will leave with a smile! The cost of our group/corporate days $575 per person with individuals using their own car. This price applies to a minimum group size of 18 individuals and a maximum of 24. It is an all-inclusive price which includes a continental breakfast, lunch and related safety equipment including helmets. If you find the individuals in your group prefer to use our fleet of Acura RSX Type-S cars for the drills and/or on-track, the cost is $650 per person. If the MiniOKI group is interested in renting the track for a day, not including The Mid-Ohio School and it's instructors, the cost is $7500/day. We have weekdays available throughout the summer, however, all weekends are full. " |

Offline | That sounds great! I would love to go to either a MINIOKI track day or even take the class as a club. I'm guessing we would need to buy racing helmets too? I know my dad did when he took classes. BTW Romhog are you going to be at the meeting this Sunday to propose this idea? -Andrew |

Offline | According to the RSVP list 12 Minis are coming, and there will be 16 people(some people are bringing guests). If you can make it that would be cool, but if not its alright considerng how far away it is. I'm sure we'l be having plenty more like this one and larger ones .-Andrew |
