I know there are a couple I've seen between here and the MINI USA owners' lounge. I'm in Council Bluffs, m'se'f.

Yep, one of the first in Iowa -- we've had ours since April 02. Over one year already.

Haven't seen too many others around.

Oh yeah, there are a few is the DSM area. If you have not yet done so, get a hold of David Walker who runs an import repair shop (Saabs, English) on the south side, and get involved with the car club there. We have half a dozen in Cedar Rapids now, more on the way if the people who talk to me follow thru. Also put August 16/17 on your calander and drive over to the Quad Cities for their Autofest. Great time and lots of cars, including both Mini and MINI. Check out qcbac.home.mchsi.com for shots from last year. Enjoy

Iowa MINI, I didn't know you could get personalized Natural Resources plates ... I thought the personalized were all generic. Is that for real?

Yes, it is true, you can get an Iowa natural resources plate personalized. You are limited in the # of characters -- I think it is only 5.

The plate on my avatar is a photo of our actual license plate.

Thanks. I'm rather fond of the goldfinch, and would hate to lose it for a personalized plate. Unfortunately I wuz thinking of 6 characters. Oh well, I guess I don't really need a personal plate after all....

Cletus, I believe that you can personalize any plate design. The only limitations is the number of characters - 7 for regular plates and normally 5 for others such as the God Bless America or DNR plates.

BTW, where in DSM do you guys live? Im in WDM.

We are in Beaverdale. My wife was the one that was in the DM Reg last August about the MINI.

There is a Blue MCS (MINIMEE) just north of us a couple blocks, but we've not met them yet.

The only MINI Ive seen in the Beaverdale area is an Indy Blue on that lives on Beaver Ave. A regular Cooper, IIRC.

Every once in a while you'll see me parked at Iowa Video. A good friend of mine owns it.

OK, we'll keep an eye out for you. We are just off Beaver Ave ourselves, suprised you haven't seen ours around. We are running thru Beaverdale all the time.

Ran into David and Ladonna on Friday nite at Hardee's on the South side with Ladonna's blue MCS.

We have a BRG/White MC w/premium pkg. What do you have?

I have an EB/W with sport package. Pretty basic, but also doesnt have all the extra weight of a sunroof, etc. My baby will be sporting new shoes come Tuesday. Ordered them from Bill's Whitewalls from downtown.

New wheels are one, though they are being replaced this week. The color of the wheels I ordered didnt look anything like the pictures.

If all goes well, in another 4-5 weeks I will have the highest HP MCS in the Des Moines/IA area. Ill do dyno testing during hte process, but Im estimating that I should fairly easily hit 215+ HP.

If any of you local people wnt to get together for a cruise or dinner or something, let me know.

A cruise-in somewhere would be great. Some of the Saturday cruise nights would be cool. Or Wed nite at Porky's, or Friday at Hardees on Army Post.

I'm open to ideas, and think it would be cool to show up somewhere with a bunch of MINI Coopers.
