Offline | Seeking some help in Columbus, OH I recently sold Gracie, my 1964 Morris Mini, on eBay to a gentleman in the Rochester, NY area. I'm in east Tennessee. I went to mapquest and got directions and found that Columbus, OH, is about midway between the two. My original plan was to trailer the car to Columbus, meet him there, hand off the car, and save him a couple of days of driving. Shortly after the auction ended, though, my husband got a call to travel to Philadelphia to work. Meanwhile, the buyer hurt his arm. The buyer checked into shipping the car. Shocked and amazed at the price of shipping, he asked if I were still willing to meet him in Columbus. Without going into all the details of our various schedules, the current situation is this: I'm working this week, my husband is home, but he's supposed to leave this weekend to go to Wisconsin. The buyer is asking if we can meet him this weekend. We hit upon the idea that if we could find a friendly soul in Columbus, someone who has just a *little* bit of driveway space they wouldn't mind losing for a few days, my husband could trailer the car up during the week, and the buyer could come and pick it up on the weekend. Gracie has an outdoor cover and doesn't have to be garaged. The buyer has a trailer. He's already paid for the car in full. If I were a mean person, I would just tell him it's his responsibility to pick up the car and let him deal with it. I do want to help him out, though. I mean, Mini folks and MINI folks are good people, right? If you have the driveway space to spare for a few days, I would be eternally grateful. Please PM me and I'll get back to you. I work during the day, and my employer is very mean about Internet access, so I can't check the board or my e-mail. If you want to send me your phone number, I'll call you in the evening...or the morning...or the day. Whatever is most convenient for you. Above all, I don't want to put anyone to any trouble. I'm just hoping to borrow a teeny bit of real estate in Columbus. I'll even let you drive Gracie around the block if you want. We won't tell the buyer. Thanks in advance to any helpful souls out there! Amy ![]() |
