Traveller - Officially going into production....,

We all knew this already, but nice to have it from the horses mouth so to speak (headline is a link)...

10th January 2006: MINI Concept Travelling into Production

"We will be enhancing the MINI family with a further model." With these words Dr. Michael Ganal, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG and responsible for Sales and Marketing, today confirmed at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit that the family of sporty little cars from England is about to grow yet again.

Read it twice now Paul, no actual build date. Any news on that? I hope they incorporate the suicide door concept, that looked great!

No official release date, that says "within 3 years", but I understood/stand that it was/is due for late next year.

I think I now know what my next cars going to be
Just hoping that its long enough to be able to get my sails in without them being placed diagonally across the car, and that I can fit a towbar to the S version

Well, the S will have split exhausts (one either side, not two down the centre) on the traveller version (so I've been led to believe since before the "Concepts" started showing up) so it could well be possible.

I think they're on to a winner to be honest. I really hope they take the chance to address the rear leg room issues, as if this remains the same as the current MINI it's a wasted opportunity.

Yes!. The main reason I will have to give up my MINI is because I am running out of rear seat legroom for my son. And the Traveller could easily be marketed as a more family oriented car than the Cooper's.

Sold the Cooper. Now driving the Traveller. I mean Clubman.

Exactly, same here!

Abi's old MINI One is up for replacement, and the Traveller is our only hope of keeping ourselves a 2 MINI family.

It may be an option for the growing Smurf clan (that is not meant to imply anything about the family growing as yet))
