Nissan don't seem to have any registered trade mark rights in Europe for Traveller. Just had a quick look & the only registration for Traveller in class 12 (which includes cars) belongs to a German company and is for bicycles.
I had a look at BMW's recent applications too, nothing obvious there. Listed the 40 most recent applications they made below, the first is from March this year the last is from June 2005. There's some interesting stuff, like the Riley, Triumph & Spitfire marks that they're keeping going (ironic that a German company could sell a product called Spitfire ). I thought entries 37 & 38 looked quite intriguing.
In keeping with the traveller theme, the new model is not to be sold via MINI dealers.... Instead cars are to be parked on grass verges along busy roads with a (badly) hand-written sign in the windscreen listing price and spec.
