Offline | Actually, that whole piece is a right load of old cobblers, the author should go back to school.... Why is "The Other Ranch" in double quotes.... - "The other Ranch"..... ? Did someone say it? No. Same with "Cadillac Ranch". From Wikipedia....Emphasis (incorrect) "Quotes are sometimes used incorrectly for emphasis in lieu of underlining or italics, most commonly on signs or placards. This usage can be confused with ironic or altered-usage quotation, sometimes with unintended humor. For example - For sale: “fresh” fish, “fresh” oysters - could be construed to imply that fresh is not used with its everyday meaning, or indeed to indicate that the fish or oysters are anything but fresh. And again - Teller lines open until noon for your “convenience” - might mean that the “convenience” was for the bank employees, not the customers" (I have used quotes around the text as it is a direct quote from Wikipedia itself )There should be a comma after Amarillo, as there's no such place as "Amarillo Texas". "Ant farm" should be "Ant Farm" as its a name. "Stunning from the bottom up it brings a different perspective to a car's rear end." This is tripe. It makes no sense, and is as such, nonsense. Its missing yet another comma, and is in fact just babble. Why is it for instance only "stunning from the bottom up"? Surely, its either stunning (in a visual sense) from all angles or not at all? It also does not "bring a different perspective to a car's rear end", it brings a different perspective of a car to the person(s) viewing it. A car has no perspective, only the viewer. "that was build up in".... obviously a typo for built, however, it should be 'which was built up" showing the correct past tense. I'm no English teacher, and I am sure I've made many mistakes throughout this posting, however, it isn't actually what I'm paid to do, unlike the author of the sign. |

| Living in Mini Wasteland | Here I would have to say that you are wrong. Quotes were not used for emphasis, they were used because "Cadillac Ranch" is the title of an artistic work. Although I use the term artistic loosely. Sold the Cooper. Now driving the Traveller. I mean Clubman. |

Offline | I am a technical editor so typos and grammatical errors can drive me crazy. However, I'm just grateful they printed the sign in English. I would love to work for them as an editor; anything to be closer to Minis full time. |
