Parking Distance Control - yes or no?

For those who have taken a test drive, should a future Clubman owner order the PDC ($500 in the US) or not?

I know the convertibles have it standard. i do not have in my MCS and do not need it.

Does the Clubman need it?

Thanks!

GMG

Can you touch the tip of your nose with your index finger on both hands? If yes, you probably don't need it.

But it could help resale, and rear view is terrible. Could save killing a stray dog, sleeping drunk etc?

if it is the same stray dog that has been pooping in my yard, I want a targeting system instead!

thanks Paul. Now I have to decide if Da Wyfe can touch her nose.

Or your nose, whichever is easiest.

I deny all liability for that test then.

I thought about it but it was a couple of hundred pounds too much for me.

I have only ever reversed into one thing and that was caused partly by the PDC fitted to the Galaxy I was driving. it beeped loudly right after I smacked int the small broken fence post. Other than that I find it too pesemistic your miles away from parked cars and its wailing like we are all going to die if you move another inch.

I thought that having it on the MINI would be a waste, but I love it. I would think that having it on the Clubman would be that much better.

Had it on my first MINI, have it on my company car and miss it on my current MINI.

The length of the car is not an issue; it's what can hide beneath the level of the rear window that's important. Here's a short list of what can hide beneath the level of my back window:

Child / toddler
Pushchair / pram
Dog
Cat
Bollard
High kerb

I don't particularly want to hit any of those

I confess to finding the rear visibility poor, so I put PDC on my 3-door MINI... for my wife, of course!

I decided against it for my Clubman. I just find them annoying and I hope they aren't famous last words for me...................

Where was that bendy bollard? I have never seen one in the UK.
