Exclamation Help requested - to make an important decision...

Hi all,

Yesterday I got a delivery week through for my Dooper Clubman - week 6 (yay!)

Spec is :

MCCD CR/S/S with silver bonnet stripes and White Indicators
Rooster Red Colour Line
Rooster Red/Cloth Ray
Brushed Aluminium interior trim
Chili Pack
Two rear seat option
Pace Alloys
Bi-Xenons
Panoramic Roof
Visibility Pack
MFSW
Sport Button
Hi-Fi Speaker System
(ran to 3 pages on the New Vehicle Order! )

Problem is that the delivery week puts it less than a month away from the new '08' reg change...

So a question therefore needs to be asked:

Do I take the car w/c 5th Feb and enjoy it a few weeks early, or wait a few more weeks (already been waiting since launch w/e! ) and get a nice shiny new 08 reg car to go and play in

Things are complicated a little by the fact that I'm trading in my R53 CR/W MC (54 plate) so while the MCCD will be worth a little more on a 08 plate, my px will be worth a little less come change time...

What would you guys do? I've spoken to the dealer, and although they seem open to discussing holding on to it for a few weeks pre-reg, the sales guy suggested the manager might consider cancelling my week 3 build spot and re-order my car for a post-March delivery if I push it?

Anyone any thoughts or experience in a similar situation?

Thanks in advance all

M

I'd exchange early. Collecting a car the month before the plate change means that you won't be collecting your car when they are rushed off their feet getting MINIs ready for everyone else. Can you imagine the workload for the PDI staff in the last week of February? You'll get much better service from less stressed staff in early February

I've only collected one car on the morning of the plate change; no one noticed and the novelty of the plate had worn off by lunchtime!

Tigger.

PS: That'll be a R50 MC

May '04 - Feb '07 R50, Feb '07 - May '10 R53. Enjoyed our time with MINI's, but ran out of space! Now Focus RS & Land Rover powered...

I agree with Tigger, Eeyore and Roo.

Why force yourself to wait until March for something you can have in February.

Enjoy it when it arrives.

Now see, im gonna throw a spanner in the works But then im biased, as i'll be collecting my new Dooper on the 1st March (due to be built Week 2)

I'd much rather wait a few weeks to have it on a new registration

Your p/x shouldnt be worth any less. Im going back to the dealer in January to get a figure for my car, and that price will be held then till March

Nice spec by the way

:

I presume you'll have to stick below a predetermined milage though?

They'll still be valuing it for March based on how much it depreciates in Jan and Feb. Won't be much difference though, Mini's are only falling about £100 per month at the mo.

I'd take it early, the plate isn't so relevant anymore, the year is......and you know it's not gonna be kicking round your dealers compound until you take delivery.

I will probably try and keep it under 18k though

Talking Thanks all - that's a decision made then!

Thanks all - much appreciated thoughts and comments

I think you're all (well, nearly all ) thinking on the same wavelength as I secretly am...

Just wanted really to make sure I wasn't being completely childish and impatient and making a rod for my own back in the long run.

I think that's decision made - I'll get it as soon as I can...and concentrate my efforts on making sure they PDI mine FIRST and get it to me asap after the transporter has rolled away!

Cheers again all - enjoy your MINIs and have a great New Year.

M
