I'll look for the seatbelt retainer thing...

regarding the door seal - on my clubman there are seals on the car body rather than the door itself, and they are on both doors, fully around each door.

I picked up my Clubman S this afternoon.
SpSilver/Black

Clubman S Missing seal on (left)Drivers Side Door.
Clubman S Existing seal on (right)Club Door Side.
The same existed on a showroom Clubman S.
NO SEALS were on a Clubman.
"It gets curioser and curioser every minute."

I discussed this with the parts manager, who's sending an email to Mini.
Their theory was that the club door side needed the seal.
"Then why isn't it on the non S version?" I asked. Theory shot down!

******
I had no credibility until I mentioned the issue had been posted on Mini2.com and NAM.
Suddenly, I wasn't an idiot. This is when they took a look at the Clubman in stock.
******

Anyone else have the offer of $700 insurance on your Run Flat tires? What a rip.
I wonder what the finance dude/dudette feels like when they have to offer us those terrible insurance packages for services.

Since the new Clubman wasn't getting to bed early, we went for a ride and I learned about that dreaded BONGING many have mentioned.
It seems it's not ok to have a case of beer in the passenger seat without a seatbelt:
the case arrived home safely and still full.

The ONE thing that appears to be WRONG on my new car is the interior Chrome Package. The MiniUSA.com congigurator says the rear cupholders are to be chrome & mine aren't. Am I nuts or did some of you get rear chrome cup holders?

yes I was offered the insurance for the runflats but I forget how much it was. The finance guy said "have you ever had runflats before? they run like $250 a pop" Gee thanks for having my best interest in mind.

Do anyone have an actual photo of a clubman without seals?

White Cooper Going in

Hi all
My clubman is going in on Monday for the following:-
1.rear doors out of line common fault I think
2.missing passinger side door seal, another common problem asked if it should be there or not he said he didn't know
3.feels as though its missing and has no power under low revs
4.major drivers side door rattle there all the time.Rattles another common problem
5.clunky gear selector sometimes smooth most of the time not.
6.clunking break pedal
7.a clunking noise after you have changed gear and you are letting the clutch out and pressing the accelerator down again.
I'm getting a courtesy car which is costing £18 is this normal as I haven't paid anything for one before.

United-Kingdom That Clubman LH door seal (missing)

It's established now in the UK at least that the Clubman does NOT have a door seal on the left side. My dealer checked with the factory. When I pointed out that the holes are there and they might fill with water and cause rust, she said well you have a no-rust insurance anyway! Won't keep it that long in any case.

I speculated that it is omitted deliberately, to help reduce air pressure when you slam the LH door, in case it might in an extreme case burst open the club door. That seems the only reason to omit the seal, when it is still fitted on the non-Clubman models. Has anybody had confirmation that that is the reason?

Billy regarding the courtesy car costing you money, we got onto the dealership and complained and we didn't have to pay it. My thoughts are if its for servicing then yes but not for warrantywork.

Our clubman has been in 5 times and not paid once. Last time we had the courtesy car for nearly a week.

We just took delivery of our Clubman on Saturday, and it's already back in the shop.

It came from the factory with its alignment off... it was pulling noticeably to the right on the highway.

Within the first 700 km, it also threw an error code activating the "Check Engine" light. Apparently some kind of "super fine leak" was detected, but the dealer's service department is stumped.

Another thing we noticed was the cargo doors do not sit very flush with each other. The left door seems to protrude a little more. Hopefully this is just an adjustment issue.

Thanks for coming over here gotsmart - welcome to the Clubman forum. I am, as I posted elsewhere, very sorry to read about the issues you've had and hope that they'll be resolved ASAP for good.

The only thing I can say is that I must guess that the issues that are popping up for Clubman owners are part of being a first edition? I never had any issues on my former MINIs - and am hopeful that those who are experiencing these frustrations will soon be able to relax and enjoy their new MINIs. Hang in there and please keep us posted!

Problem1. Sticky throttle - scary

Problem 2. Poor air con performance

Problem 3. Over zealous parking sensors

Problem 4. Water pours in the back when I open the rear door after heavy rain - big design fault!

I'm wondering how many of these issues are from the very early adopters (e.g. they were available in the UK FAR before the US)?

1: Are you sure the floor mat hasn't slipped?
2: My climate control is excellent; have you tried the max setting?
3: They bleep with increasing frequency as you near the obstacle so they seem fine to me as the first ones happen when there's still room to open the rear doors!
4: But you get less run-off than with a vertical-lifting tailgate.

How long have you had your Clubman?

1. No - I have a sticky throttle
2. You have climate control, I have air con, your system is more sophisticated
3. My sensors bleep when there is nothing behind me causing me to get out of the car to double check a situation I really know is bogus
4. Errr...I have a puddle in my boot - explain

Had it since March - all these probs aside it”s still cool!

OK, so I guess I'm going to bite the bullet and ask about that missing rubber seal, not to be confused with the fur seal pictured earlier in this thread. I will ask tomorrow and report back what I hear just to round out the coverage from various dealerships.

Mines a December delivery and problem free the aircon has been great the last few weeks as we have had regular bouts of 70degree weather. Really don't care about the door seals and not really too fussy about the whole car it was bought to do a job and coping admirably.

White Cooper

Hi all
A new major concern came out of work Thursday night drove away thought the road traffic was noisy tried my dood that was shut discovered the window was slightly open so i shut it thought I'd left it open went to work last night got the car out of the garage didn't notice the window when i got in the car but when i shut the door the window was open this time below the door seal (not the one that's missing)checked it this morning but this time it was shut.Going in on Monday will mention it.
My air con is now cold but it took a few try s at first it wasn't any colder than the heater itself.
the pdc picks things up in the roof of my garage.

Read about something similar on another site and it was suggested that the windows needed to be reset "To reset auto down your window. Then auto up and hold 15 seconds. It should reset it just fine." Why they'd need to, I have no idea?

Shaun, good for you! I'm not sure what I think about this particular seal, but in general I'm quite fond of them.

P.S. Back to door "seals" if you want one and can't get one through your dealer, there is a place in the states that sells them, here's a link to the post w/the parts #, etc. North American Motoring - View Single Post - Clubman Door Jam's the place is called Pelican Parts...though I'm sure there are other places.

Yeah I forgot about the floor mat that slides onto the gas pedal - I have to pull back the mat a couple times a day!

can anyone clarify if you are talking about the black rubber seals that are affixed to the car itself????????????????????????????

No, not affixed to the car's body but to its door...look at this link and although it's an R56 not a Clubman R55, it is supposed to be the same part # and in this case it's #5 RealOEM.COM * BMW R56 Cooper S DOOR WEATHERSTRIP FRONT and is actually called a door weather strip. Check out this thread on NAM: MINI COOPER :: North American Motoring - Clubman Door Jam's So it is on the bottom inner edge of your passenger door (for us in the USA) and should be, most of us believe, on the driver's side as well - the holes are there for it to fasten into, etc. Hope this clarifies things.

Placed my call and will hopefully hear back on Monday or Tuesday.
